Hello my fellow bun bun lovers I’m new to the site and chose this site as it has lots of people with related questions.I have 3 bun buns who are sky bunny/fufu and fefe.Me and my gf have had them for 2 years now,The first year I was giving them alfalfa hay and pellets then switched over to timothy hay and timothy hay pellets. One day I decided to give them fresh grass from the yard,I then noticed the weeds and researched them,We have common mallow/London rocket/sheperds purse/bermuda grass and chickweed.I found these are all safe for the bunnys and relised after feeding them they ABSOLUTLY LOVE IT!!.The problem is the yard was cut and all is lost for grass and weeds,I then noticed the abundance of weeds and grass in the alley which is the same as in my yard,I washed it very very good and have been feeding them this about 3 times a week the past week.I started to think what if the city sprays some kind of chemicals to eather kill bugs or weeds and started to worry that the ally weeds and grass may be a bad idea.So what are your thoughts?Should it be ok as long as its washed good?should I not give them this anymore?I don’t think they spray the weeds as there are weeds everywhere but then I worry about other man made chemicals like anti freeze and random junk people may be putting in the ally. Then I tell myself if there was dangerous chemicals it would kill the plants before it harmed the bunnys.Let me know what you think.

Hello to you and your bun trio . Even if the weeds look healthy, it would be safest not to pick them if they do not come from your yard. As you mentioned, the weeds not on your property could have been sprayed with chemicals, and some of the chemicals could have made their way into the plant and not just on the surface, so washing them might not be enough.

It can be hard to know what’s on plants that aren’t in your garden. Not everything dangerous on a plant will kill it before it can be picked and eaten, herbicides are a good example, they can be on a plant but may not result in the plant looking sicking for as long as a week.

Not to mention if a lot of people walk through that alley way, I suspect there may be a good amount of dog pee on those plants

Thanks you guys/gals.I threw the plants away before I even got a response better safe then sorry.Im going to pick some at my grandmothers but she has cats around the yard and I’m sure they pee everywhere,Ill give them a goos spray in the bathtub before serving them as cats are everywhere and I probably shouldn’t worry once sprayed.
