Hello there! I need a bit of advice as this is the first time I have owned rabbits.

I have bought two bunny rabbits (jack and dennis), had them about 3 months now, they are 2 boys. We have had them both neutered and they both seemed to settled down nicely.

At first I had a few problems with litter training them, I had a small corner litter tray thing but when i switch to a larger tray one which is just a cat litter tray they seemed to be fine – someone also told me that leaving sawdust on the floor can confuse them so they think everywhere is a toilet so i stop using that also and just put some newspaper down for them and as I said everything was fine they were being really good and using it. But all of a sudden jack has just decided that he will wee outside the box just in the middle of the floor in the downstairs part of the hutch. I have tried praising him and giving him a treat when he does use it and I also got them another one incase it was a ‘im not using it if he is using it’ situation but again he just wees in the middle of the cage still so I am cleaning it out every 2 seconds!

I was just wondering if anyone could spread some light on how I can solve this, I mean he never wees outside the cage so its not the end of the world but it would be nice if he stopped doing it!

Also how much are they suppose to wee because I am having to change the litter completely at least every other day because it just gets full up, I am just using the wood pellet type of litter.

I hope that all makes sense and isnt a giant ramble!

thankyou for any help! I will try and get some pitcures of them up soon they little sweeties.

Some rabbits consider newspaper a potty spot to begin with. They may have issues sharing one box, too, depending on their relationship. If the hutch floor is wood this could be a factor as well. Many rabbits like peeing on wood and once the wood smells like pee, they will just see it as a toilet permanently. I recommend setting up a small pen for them with a smooth, non-absorbing surface as flooring such as coroplast. Offer two boxes for them and wipe up any accidents with vinegar. Also, use plenty of hay as topping in their litterboxes to entice them. Rabbits like to potty where they munch.
