The bonding between Coco and Jackson is still going all right.

I am attempting to keep on top of their pee (her) and poop (Him) wars. If I clean up the pee well, with bleach and pet enzyme, she doesn’t re-mark it for a couple of days. If she doesn’t pee – He doesn’t go crazy with the poop.

If he smells her pee on the rug, then all bets are off. Of course, during the day they are both perfect in their litter habits. The real party starts when I turn out the lights.

But I marked it up to bonding – they were sharing everything else pretty well. Until I switched to feline Pine. We finally ran out of YN and I switched to the feline pine. Jackson was vaguely suspicous for a second, then was fine with it. Prima Donna Coco was not happy.  Would jump in then jump out, flicking her feet. “Hmm”, I thought , “She doesn’t like the change in litter, I will cover it up” so I put more hay and some “Boxo” stuff ( shredded cardboard much like carefresh)

The next morning – poop and pee wars outside the box. Now, Jackson doesn’t poo until Coco pees. She is the leader in this.

No problem, I think, and I wash everything down again – change the litter, cover with Boxo and Hay. Jackson hops in and marks with both pee and poo  – I praise him.

Coco – not so much. By the time I got back in the afternoon – she had peed right next to the box and left pellets everywhere. I think this is odd – so Not like Coco. Repeat this for another day..Until Today ( Day 3)…I stopped and bought YN to mix with the Feline Pine, thinking “Maybe I can fool her by MIXING the two – wean her from the expensive in Canada YN to the much less expensive pine pellets” . Got home. Coco has peed in fron of the litter box again.

I should also add that today we were late in getting their greens. She hopped up on the bed to nudge me, as it was 8:30 and breakfast had not yet been served. In the five minutes it took me to fetch the salad, she had peed next to the water bowl. I cleaned it all up and disinfected. I assumed it was my punishment for being so late with the morning greens. So by this afternoon, I made the “mix the litter” plan and when I got home, I thoroughly cleaned the litter pans, washed down the floor and mixed the YN/Feline Pine to put in the litter boxes. Jackson hoped right in and peed – I praised him and gave him a papaya tablet. Coco was going nuts trying to get a tablet without hopping into the box.

She finally ( after trying EVERYTHING to get the tablet without getting in the box) she hopped in and grabbed the tablet and then hopped out – flicking litter behind her.  Sigh. I am annoyed. I go to the bathroom. My daughter calls to me to tell me that Coco has hopped over and Peed on my shoe.

        What the %^&^$%&%^$%^^%!!!

I come out – get the top to the cage and cage her. As you may know, she is free roam. This is a high insult.  She hops into the MIDDLE of the two litterboxes and lifts her tail and pees on the edge of BOTH litterboxes.  She looks at me while she does this.

I turn my back on her and offer Jackson a papaya tablet. She goes crazy biting the bars of the cage. He wants to get in with her, so in HE goes to the cage. They are now both sitting in the hay baskets – face to face. Ignoring me,

Please – advice, succor, comfort – anything. I feel very much like when I used to get called on a threat by my then 2 year old daughter…

HAHAHAHA! Sorry – not much there in the “comforting poor bunny slave” department. omg – I know about this attitude Coco is giving you as Jersey does it. I just don’t know how to combat it. Maybe that’s the key. Know when you’ve lost the battle, lay down your arms and just give her Yesterdays News.

Maybe it’s a Canadian thing. Isn’t it Devastators bunny that will only use blue litter?

I’m also having the post-bonding not ideal litter box habits. I’m starting to think it’s marking against me entering their space. Even though they don’t spend that much time there and have the whole house.

So – as an update – I completely cleaned and disinfected the room – swapped things all around again. For the first 12 hours – no poop, no pee wars – I mixed the YN with the Feline Pine.

I tried to let them be free roam 2 nights ago. Nope. No good – poop and pee ( not as intense, but still) So I caged them last night and they protested – but all the poop and pee wars stayed in the cage. As soon as the sun came up the bars were rattling for the duo to be let out…which was fine. Some small poops after they got out, but not terrible.

I am going to cage them again tonight – see how this unravels. They didn’t fight or bicker at all when in the cage. He did just try to mount her and she is SO not Ok with it – she just moves away. Poor guy. He can’t get No satisfaction….
