As I’ve mentioned, I run an animal rescue. The absolute worst is when people surrender only one half of a bonded pair of bunnies they have. The reasoning is that they have the time/space/money for one, but not two. And it just sucks so hard for the bunny I end up with. They’re in a new and uncomfortable place without their best friend. I do my best for the bunnies I get, but it’s not an ideal house bunny situation where they have one-on-one attention from me all day like my personal rabbits get. They’re usually alone except when volunteers come by, and it’s usually fine for the bunnies that have always been solo, but seeing that for the separated once-bonded bunnies is especially hard…
Bleh. I just needed to share this somewhere. My irl friends just don’t get it!
I almost want to tell people, “Please, if you HAVE to surrender your bunny and you have a bonded pair, just surrender both together,” but then that puts two bunnies in a not-ideal situation instead of just one. Just. Bleh.
