Caging has been going beautifully at night time. We have a nice little routinue – at 10:30 they each get a grape, then I fill their pellet bowls ( They wait at the edge of the door, cause they both know that PELLETS are coming) Walk back into the room and say “Bed Time” and they both hop into the cage. I set the pellets down, refresh the hay, get fresh water, say good night then cover their cage.

99.9% of the time, I don’t hear a compaint ( except Coco Snores) until between 7 and 7:30.

Not last night – the thumping started at 4.

THUMP, Pause, Pause, Pause, THUMP, Pause,Pause, Pause, THUMP. Like clockwork.

I dragged my sorry self out of bed, Looked in the cage, gave rubs, fluffed hay…tried to go back to sleep. Nope, not having it.

At a little after 5, I just uncaged them becasue It wasn’t worth the commotion. There were no poop wars this morning, so I figure either Something spooked them OR Coco has had it with the night time caging and decided to announce it at 4 a.m.

I just realized this morning that the poop wars have nearly stopped. Sure, a few in front of the litter box, but No big deal, and No Pee. I was starting to feel like it was an neverending mountain of poo. It was shocking to realize that I wasn’t cleaning pee and Poop galore every morning!

Yeah!!!!! Well maybe they are ready for nighttime play time again! I’d start small and increase their area every few days. Hopefully you wont have any more problems!!

That’s great! Now if you can just get them to stop snoring and thumping :~) It sounds like a little bunny revenge going on there for sure.

Here’s a question… IS thumping good or bad, or just a way of communicating? Bunners thumped at me one day. I had rounded the corner into the living room (after changing clothes) and he bolted like I startled him. I thought maybe it was just because he didn’t recognize me or something, but he went behind a chair in the house and thumped at me 3 or 4 times and then he came out and ran up to me for a snuggle. (A couple thumps in I was down on the floor trying to soothe him, I was worried) Hasn’t done it since, and didn’t seem to phase him after a few minutes…

Thumping is their way of saying they are displeased at something. SO Bunenrs was letting you know his disapproval at you startling him.

Valen and Bella BOTH thump for me especially after playtime! They are mad at me But eventually get over it when I give them a treat and take their mind off things! Sorry you didn’t get much sleep! Maybe they are thumping to tell you they want to be out and about and are responsible bunnies?

haha I have to say, I don’t know a single bun whose disapproval can’t be swayed with a delicious snack

Maybe Bunners didn’t like your outfit choice, “You’re not going out dressed like that, are you???”

Sometimes bunnies will thump when they are about to do something they want everyone to see – like an especially good binky.

“Hey, mom, Look what I can do!” Thump. “Mom, mom, are you looking?” Thump. Binky!!!!
