The hubby and I are looking at re-arranging/ re-decorating our living room.  B/c of all the cats & rabbits, we are looking at a leather couch.  The stinkin’ fur just sticks to all cloth furniture.  I think the cats will be ok w/ their claws, but I’m worried that the leather smell might entice Leo to jump up & pee on it.  Is that crazy?  We will attempt another neuter as soon as we get our “stimulus check”.

B/c the new couch is bigger than the old couch, we have to do some manage re-arranging and downscaling.  Do you think the rabbits would mind if we completely relocated their condo to another side of the room?  They seem very happy w/ the current set up, so I don’t want to cause upset and bonus “marking”.  I think I might be sounding insane at this point.

One more thing…we will also be getting a new rug…again the fur problem.  We had a jute rug b/f and b/t Leo pee marking and my cat’s puking on it, it got pretty deformed.  We kept cleaning up and eventually the jute warped.  Again we are looking at jute or sea grass, so any suggestions?  I want to think everything through first, so if we make these investments, the hubby doesn’t have a heart attack if something gets trashed.

I know the inconsistency w/ the neuter & re-decorating.  I live near a major university and during student move outs, they give away and sell (super cheap) their furniture.  We’re checking out a leather couch tonight for $150.  Timing is key b/c it only happens during move out & graduation.

I’m no expert but I can say that we just recently moved Tucker’s cage and pen to a new spot in the room recently and we got the new territorial poops when he moved.  I didn’t notice any spraying though…or maybe I just have a bad nose??

He’s not neutered yet either (we’re waiting for that stim check too)  and I think because it was a new space he had to mark it. Luckily he

i think some other people have leather without problems. of course as a bunny slave/ pet person you realize that anything that comes into the house is fair game. i would not worry about moving the cage. you need to find out the best set-up for you guys too. even if they do get mad, it should be over with rather quickly hoepfully. i would not make habit of moving them around tho…

I had a second hand leather couch and chair, and Spockie never peed on it. He got up on the leather chair every morning because that was where we started our day together. He didn’t spend much time on the couch or chair after that – I think the smoothness wasn’t very interesting for him. He’d climb/sniff/lick the occasional pillow on it. If your cats and bunnies leak from both ends I’d just get a cheap, cute area rug that you intend to get rid of in a short time. Jute and seagrass are nice looking – and tasty.

We have leather…Only Kokanee jumps on it, the other two can’t quite get up there LOL…If they do pee, then at least it’s super easy to clean!! I’d never have cloth with animals-fur free furniture is nice

Thanks for the input.  We are getting the leather couch tomorrow!  I can’t wait.  We were looking at one of those indoor/outdoor rugs for the livingroom, that way we won’t have to worry about puke & pee!
