Okay, fess up! Who is planning on being a bunny? ![]()
I love Halloween – and this year it is on a Friday!
This is the first time in years since I lived any where that I will get “Trick or Treat”ers – or did not have to work – What? Friday night off? for a chef?
I’m a sucker for home made costumes.
One year I was a “Long cool woman in a black dress” except for that I’m short, only 5’3”. ![]()
One time in college, I showed up at my boyfriends parents bar – really, his parents owned the bar – as “my boyfriend”. His dad introduced me all night long as “his son”. It was hysterical!
One of my friends was working as a short order cook – also during college – he got of work and went right to a party, still in his apron & hat, all covered with geese – he won 1st prize for best costume! ![]()
Any one have any fun plans or ideas for costumes? Photos – any one?
If only I could talk my husband into a Halloween costume party – not to mention how much fun you can have with the food & drinks!!
I’d love to do the playboy bunny thing but just can’t get myself up to do something like that…I’d like to go as that and make Dave dress as Frank the bunny from Donny Darko-then we could both be bunnies !!!! ![]()
He actually would dress up as Frank-I’ll post pics if he does!!

^^ Frank the bunny
(having trouble getting the pic up today… sorry!!)
all my friends want me to go as a bunny. i think they think it would be hilarirous
We won’t be getting trick or treaters this year either. Where I live are a bunch of old grumpy butts with a few nice people tossed in. ![]()

Awes, bunnytowne, that is the first time I’ve seen a piccy of HB, there in your avvy. No wonder you wanted to keep him! I would! ^_^ What a cutie!
Well, I have bought some ‘claw polish’ (basic black-which I never wear) and some blue hair gel, and I figure I’ll probably wear at least one of my multitude of anime bunny hats this year…but that’s about it. I dressed in striped stockings and all black with a black and purple wig (long hair) and a pointy hat last year with a little black cat plushie safety pinned to my shoulder, but we got no trick or treaters anyway.
So I felt stupid and took the whole getup off without taking a picture.
Funny, during chemo I was certain I was going to get a wig of blue hair and wear it to every treatment, but somehow I just didn’t have the courage to do it…lolz.
At my age, I am scary looking enough without a costume. ~_~

Oh I was JUST thinking how I wanted to do the playboy bunny for halloween!! I don’t think I could do it by myself, I’d have to go with someone. We should go together, I live in Minnesota, that’s close to Canada right?? lol
^^ Heheh totally!! I might be in Calgary for Halloween so that’s practically walking distance then!!
Not planning on being a bunny but I LOVE halloween! I’d be thrilled to do a costume party and make all kinds of cool decorations and treats.
This is our first year in this house, and apparently the area doesn’t get a whole lot of trick-or-treaters – it’s a kind of a secluded street and not many people know that it’s here. Oh well, I’m still going to dress up, carve my pumpkins and have my treats ready!
Pretty much every year I dress as a gothy-witch type of thing. Many years ago I was manning my cousin’s house halloween night so they could take their daughter out (she’s 20 now, that’ll give you some idea how long ago it was). I wore a poodle skirt and cute little sweater and had my hair in pigtails for answering the door, and some snotty teenager (who probably had a job and a car and shouldn’t have been trick or treating) came to the door, looked at me and said “What are you supposed to be, some kind of old teenager?”. I was not impressed.
For treats this year we’re giving out chocolate chip cookies. Costco has a box of pre-packaged cookies, 2 cookies per package, 48 packages. Good sized cookies too. I figure every gives them chocolate and candy, cookies will be something different. And the box was on sale for $9 so it ends up being cheaper than buying a few bags of candy. Any leftover cookies get used for lunches!
Pumpkins… I don’t know what I’m going to do this year. I want to do one with the city’s baseball team logo. I found a nice King Tut pattern. I’ve already picked up 5 pumpkins for carving so I’m sure I’ll find something to do with them! These are some of mine from last year – the Hogwarts one was a royal pain in the butt to do!

(cuz if it’s not pretty, it can be funny
)
Wow, Annette! That is SOOO cool!
I don’t have to work Halloween night for the first time in…I don’t remember, it’s been so long! I have no idea what I’m going to do with myself! I probably won’t dress up, because I’m just not creative that way, but I can’t decide whether to entertain trick-or-treaters or go out! Oooo, to have options! I love it!
But I’m definitely starting by picking out a pumpkin. And then carving it (it’ll look like a 5 year old did it, and I don’t care!). And THEN I’m going to roast the pumpkin seeds! Mmm-yummy!

And feed the pumpkin to bunnies!! I’m so pumped to see if they like it!
I just went to the craft store this morning.
I got a white T-shirt (that will be re designed), a silver & white boa, a blue feather butterfly, blue. silver & crystal fabric paint, blue & silver ribbon, blue & silver make up and some sheer fabric with blue & crystal sparkles.
I think I will be some kind of ice fairy.
I can’t wait to play with pumpkins!
I discovered this technique… 2 years ago I think. I actually find it way easier than traditional cut-through carving.
There’s a lot of really good information (and patterns) on doing this technique on this site – http://www.carvingpumpkins.com . And a very helpful forum there too!

I really love Halloween and miss costume parties. Like bunnytowne, I have older people without kids trick or treating where I live.
I used to work with a bunch of guys, photographers, who were very creative and threw amazing Halloween parties. This was in Peabody, MA, years ago. It was actually the next town over from Salem, where I was born, so I am an official Salem Witch.
Also used to go to Halloween Happenings in Salem each year during the month of October. Got psychic readings, great stuff at Crow Haven Corner and Pyramid Books – really fun.
Annette, I think that’s why I stopped dressing up. I just don’t need the abuse from kids or teens whose parents have obviously taught them no manners at all. How rude of that girl to say such a thing to you!
I look silly enough in just everyday clothes when I go to the store. It’s a wonder my kids still want to be seen with me!
Those pumpkins are beautiful, btw! I’ll have to show my daughter the Hogwarts one, she is a bigtime Harry fan!
