volunteer gig… training day

well today i started my volunteering at the humane society.  i loved it!!!  it’s hard work cleaning up after the kitties but oh so fun to get to interact with them while i’m working.  there are sooo many cats & kittens there right now.  wow.  one pod with 5 kennels in it had 2 kennels with one cat each, the 3rd kennel had a mom & her 4 kittens, the 4th had 2 kittens (one of whom could escape & did so about 10 times while i was cleaning in the pod) and the 5th had 6 kittens.  6!!!  boy it was funny trying to round them all up back into their kennel when i was done cleaning it.  especially given that the escapee kitten got out with them and is slightly feral & hard to catch. 

there are 4 bun buns there right now… one adoreable lop who looks like a younger baby bun… another lop who’s all black & very friendly… a netherland dwarf who’s quite timid the poor thing,… and a rex who looks just like meadow!   i brought in toilet paper tubes tubes for them but i had to book outta there pretty fast for an appointment after my training shift so i didn’t get time to play with them. 

when the volunteer coordinator introduced me to the vet tech who’d be training me she mentioned that i loved bunnies and wanted to help with them.  i was so glad she remembered.  i’m hoping they’ll let me take them out for some play/cuddle time after i’m done cleaning up.  actually with the cat population they have in there right now i may not have time… it took 2 1/2 hrs today!  maybe they’ll let me come in another day just for the buns?  we’ll see.  i’m planning to make myself useful for a while before i start into too much.

It sounds like kitten season! I’m glad you enjoyed yourself…wish you could have spent more time with the buns.

awe I would luv to do somethign like that. I dont’ have the transpo tho. the bus takes forever to get there cuz there is no bus that goes over the bridge by my house it goes all the way down to the other causeway bridge then have to catch one back around to get back to the street by my house rediculous. system they have here. the library is just over the causeway by myhouse too. but no bus. and hard on me to walk that far. and ride bike hmmmpf. I have b4 and I cannot get all the way up on my bike i have to stop and walk it halfway up  but sure is fun on the way down ahaha. but my back          isn’t thrilled with the incline going up too bad.

oh oops I ramble too much sorry    enjoy your bunnies there and the kittens sounds like quite an escape by the little kitties hehehe gosh that sounds great to be doing what you are doing. gosh 2 1/2 hours to clean their pens gosh that sounds like a lot of cats. poor things.
