I brought my suitcase in the room to pack for the next few days. Every time I move it or do the zippers so goes crazy thumping. See video below:

Heh. She seems like such a gentle thumper.

            Thanks for that.

I have never seen a rabbit do that before, does it mean anything?

hee hee.  i wonder if its the noise she objects to?  lisa_43… i think bunny thumps are supposed to be a warning to other ‘bunnies’ if they sense danger, but it seems more to indicate anger / displeasure with my girl.  sort of a "how dare you?" exclamation.

That’s a great video! She must really hate that noise. I wonder what it sounds like to her.. she is not happy with that zipper!

Lisa – bunnies can use it show displeasure and anger, and fear/warning. Those are the most common.

I believe besides all of the above, my bunny also uses it to taunt me if he’s under my bed. She thumps continuously there but there isn’t anything for her to be upset, scared or angry about.

Madusa looks a lot like Edson!  Never seen a bun thump before!  That’s hysterical!  He must be mad you’re leaving town…

That video could be a textbook description of bunny thumps! Medusa is such a smart bun – I wonder if she knows that the suitcase means you are going somewhere?

haha my buns do the SAME thing. My explanation is that since they’re not allowed under there (there are wires under the bed), in order to get them out I usually yell or bang on top of the bed and so even when I’m not doing those things they probably sense that I’m about to and thump in  forewarning.

Cute video of Medusa. My Vicky reacted with displeasure recently to the sound of my gf’s camera’s shutter/focus.

One friend said that she realized her bunny was afraid of her snoring. Her bunny would thump and wake her up.

Is it wrong that I am thinking Medusa might make a great drummer in a bunny band? ha ha
I wonder if she doesn’t approve of the suitcase itself or is it the idea that you’re going away

I think rabbits are scared of unfamiliar large objects because it could look like a big predator. After a few days she realized that it was harmless, and her curiosity got the best of her. She kept jumping inside once I started packing
