Most of you will know BB member Q8 and her LEGEND of a bunny, CHEWIE. 

He truly will be a SUPER-BUN next Thursday, flying over the Mediterranean Sea AND the Atlantic Ocean from KUWAIT to CANADA.

The preparation for this move has been incredibly long, arduous, not to mention expensive, for one of the cutest furballs this site has EVER seen. Yes, I’m not kidding you !!   

So, with Q8’s blessing, I’m asking for ALL the BB bunny vibes in the world to be sent to Q8 and Chewie for safe and healthy flights back to Canada.

Lots more postivity vibes would be appreciated. There has been a big “hiccup” despite Q8’s long time planning and communications with Lufthansa. Unfortunately the hold up is coming from Kuwaiti airport end of things. An employee quoting from the airport manual and ignoring Lufthansa who had okay’s everything. He’s insisting crate needs to be wood and wire mesh chicken coop style crate because rabbits are viewed as livestock.   I don’t understand this. I thought you only had to go by the airlines specifications. 

So the flight left without them and Q8 is trying to negotiate how to successfully get on another.

Vienna Blue in France – I live in Canada and you are right about only certain wood being allowed over the boarder in to Canada once they land.
Apparently these are the numbers she can call to try and ask if what she is bringing Chewie in will be fine to come into the country…. “You can call the BIS at 800-461-9999 from within Canada, or 204-983-3500 or 506-636-5064 from outside the country.”

This whole thing is SO Stupid! I hope she can put a sweater or something of hers in there with Chewie to help keep him calm inside that contraption… Live stock – what a bunch of idiots (politest word I can post haha) at that air port !!!

Seriously though, what a mess.  Has Lufthansa said anything about the situation? Are they okay with switching crates? Seems like they wouldn’t want to transport him in a rinky dinky wooden crate (no offense to your craftsmanship Q8, I’m sure yours will be lovely, as far as wooden crates go ). And why does this guy even have a say in it to begin with? I thought this would be up to the airline, like jersey said.

Just read this thread, and you guys are AMAZING! Thank you all from the furry bottoms of our hearts for all the love and support.

So yep, because of the delay, I dropped off the wookie and the next day flew back for two months. And the guy who violated the direct orders from Lufthansa Germany and IATA Switzerland has apparently been terminated.

But now I’m back (flew in last Wednesday) and gradually settling in. But mostly hanging out with the wookie. And so far, he is LOVING Canada!

Hi All, I am not as well known here as have not been on very long. I also have not been on as much recently due to Ramadhan and illness but I have to admit that Q8 and Chewie and Jerseygirl earned special places in my heart a few weeks back when one night while I was too sick to get out of the bed I decided to browse the forums. I ended up coming across a page that made me laugh so hard that I managed happy tears. Very very appreciated happy tears since I was also grieving the loss of a dear friend’s dog for whom I was secondary care giver… I really needed that laugh that night… be it just about a photo of a rather tasty lunch time charcuterie or something a bit more ?…so to you Q8 and Chewie, safe fly time, safe landing and happy togetherness for much much more time to come! Enjoy your Vacation Chewie! And safe travels for Momma Q8, to come… thank you as well Jerseygirl… I really needed that laugh. And he is very nonplussed about the unfamiliar flooring. He was accustomed to high gloss tile and wool rugs. As a result, vinyl and wood flooring seem to have “lava” status and he hates to set foot on them.
