Vibes needed for Monty

[Sonn]

Monty is sick. No idea what it is yet. He didn’t eat his morning food but that isn’t really new he is more of a nibbler throughout the day. I let him out and he acted fine and was doing binkies and just generally being a brat. Around 6pm he was in the living room with me digging in some boxes but 10 minutes or so later I noticed he wasn’t getting into trouble and went looking for him. I found him hiding behind my bed. The thing about Monty is he has never hid even as a baby he didn’t hide. I lured him out with a raisin which he ate. But then he ran back to his cage and sat on top of his box. That too is nothing out of the ordinary since that is usually where you will find him. 

I gave him veggies and knew something was wrong when he didn’t immediately start eating them. So I prepared for scratches and bites on my hands to check his stomach. I really knew something was wrong when he let me pick him up and do whatever I wanted with him. So I packed him up and took him to the vet. He let the vet do whatever she wanted to him. Monty hates being touched in any way that isn’t petting his nose. But never lets the vet touch him without fighting.

So far nothing has been found. No obvious infection, no stasis, no teeth issues, no injuries, nothing. Blood was drawn and he is currently being kept there with fluids running.

Oh wow, that it concerning. Especially since he normally wants to take your hand off. LOL

There hasn’t been much of a change. He will be staying at the vets office until he is well enough to come home. He is currently getting an ultrasound since his stomach is a little tender today. He was put on pain meds last night since he was grinding his teeth a bit. But as of now there is still no clue as to what is wrong with him. The vet told me he showed a little interest in a piece of banana but still refused it.

Oh no…poor Monty my daughter and I were just talking about him last night because we haven’t heard from you in awhile. I wish it were under better circumstances.

Just saw your last post. Have they checked his blood glucose? If that is high he may have a blockage.

The vet just called. The ultrasound showed no signs of a blockage. His glucose levels were checked yesterday when I took him in and were normal. His heartbeat is abnormal and that is being looked into now.

He is declining. He is no longer responding to any type of touch and just sits hunched in the corner of the cage.

Got a call from the vet an hour ago. Monty has passed away. There is still no indication of what happened or why.

You gave him such a good home when no one else would. You took great care of him and fought so hard. I am so very, very sorry.

You did what you could for him.  It sounds to me like his little heart just gave out… and sometimes there is no good answer as to why.

I’m so sorry, Sonn. You’ve been through so much these past few months and I can’t even imagine how you must be feeling right now. You gave him a wonderful life and not many people would have put up with such a blood thirsty beast. (I’m kidding, kind of.) He will be so very missed.
