I got home about 2 hours ago to Gypsy who had not eaten, drank, or pooped since last night. She was also floppy when I picked her up and put up no fight. Anyone that knows Gypsy knows she will fight tooth and nail when you even attempt to pick her up. I took her in to the vet immediately and she is currently being treated for stasis. But her outlook is grim. The vet said he puts her at a 10% survival.
I feed both buns once in the morning and once at night plus refill their hay. Gypsy isn’t a huge hay eater (she takes bouts of eating and entire rack of hay in a day but not often) so if she doesn’t eat much hay it isn’t noticeable in her hay rack. And she had eaten all of her veggies last night so I didn’t think anything of it when I got up this morning and she still had hay.
She is very lazy and even when out of cage she doesn’t move around much. But I let her out before work and she hopped out of her cage and “ran” around for about 5 minutes then made herself at home on my bed. All normal. I put her back before I left and she was grooming herself last I looked at her. All fine and good.
Even though it is looking grim according to the vet I am holding out hope that she makes it. She is not even 3 years old yet. And I’ve lost so many buns over the years.
