Buffy Is Going To Get Spayed Tomorrow But Her And Binky Are Really Close, Once We Had To Take Buffy Out Of The Enclosure Because She Had A Myterious Lump (It Turned Out To Be Poop Stuck Under Her Fur…..) But Anyway, For The Duration That Buffy Was Gone Binky Would Squeek And Grunt We Thought There Might Be Somthing Wrong With Him But As Soon As We Brought Buffy Back He Stopped And Then Flopped And Buffy Was Only Gone For 10 Minutes But She Is Going To Be Gone All Day Tomorrow So What Should I Do To Keep Binky Occupied?
The Picture Of Just Binky Was Him When Buffy Was Gone, I Mean Look How Sad He Looks…..

Oh, poor Binky – can you take him with her to keep her company and to keep him company?
Our Vet is the only one for miles and the holding cages in the vet will only hold one bunny and since it it the only vet in miles it is always packed
Okay, how about putting a stuffed bunny in the cage with Binky to keep him company while she is gone – maybe that will work.
Oh poor little guy! This is why I fear getting a 2nd rabbit! The one left behind often has a broken heart! I guess just give him lots and lots of extra attention? Oh let us know how it works out!
will he snuggle up to a stuffed toy if you put it in? if you can’t take him, he’s just gonna have to be okay with that. can you play with him more that day?
your bunnies are beautiful by the way. welcome here, don’t think i’ve seen you around yet.
I tested today taking Buffy out and replacing her with a toy bunny but Binky just ripped it to shreds even though it looked like her and it had her scent all over it
Uh, oh LOL :~) I guess that’s not the answer then. Do you have Rescue Remedy that you can dab him with while she’s gone?
hmm, how tiny is the cage at the vets? it really is much better if you can take them both in, even if it’s tight quarters. it’s always best to bring in both bunnies – since sometimes one bunny comes home smelling like the vet’s office and the bond breaks. it also sounds like Binky was extremely upset for them to be separated. If there’s anyway to fit them both in the cage at the vet’s office I’d do it.
If it won’t work – then try to give him lots of love and affection while she’s at the vet’s.
I hope all will go well with her spay.
-Sarita, Could you tell me what a Rescue Remedy is please?
-Gravehearted, I could ask the vet if they have a spare cat cage but the onlt thing is Buffy is actually really tiny and is a scaredy bunnyand Binky is huge compared to her and Binky is also really rough so I am worried that Binky might want to play with her and he might hurt her just after she has been spayed.
awe that is one sad bunny. oh what to do I have no ideas sorry
Oh sad days…maybe he won’t take her for granted then when she comes back home
all kidding aside…I hope everything goes well for you and the buns.
Thanks ^^
Aw.. that poor sad little face. Do you have maybe a cat carrier you could put one bunny in and put it near the vet holding cage? At least they would be within sight and smell of each other and you wouldn’t have to worry about injuries.
Unfortunately the spay is tomorrow and that isn’t much time to do an adequate bunny swap. Just for future reference……you could put a dab of vanilla on the back of the head/nape (i.e. location for flea meds) on both rabbits for several days prior to seperation. That way they get used to that smell and you can put the vanilla on the stunt bunny and reapply the scent to both until they are reunited.
I brought Leo & Jessica in together when Leo had to go in last time. I thought it would make us all more comfortable. I’m just wondering if this is a dog/cat vet or dog/cat/small mammal vet? If its dog/cat/small mammal, they should be able to share a cat cage no problem. You may have to pay extra for a day boarding for the non surgical rabbit, but they should fit just fine. I’m also wondering how much the vet and vet staff understand the preference for bonded bunnies to remain together. It’s pretty standard concerns/ protocal for rabbit vets, so its not an odd request at all. Did you talk w/ the vet or rabbit experienced vet nurse? They tend to be more knowledge about such things than the reception staff. Please ask them directly w/ all your concerns and the fear that they will become “unbonded”. Best of luck w/ the spay…..we send bunny kisses.
They do have animal experts there and they have at least 5 rabbit experts because it is a big vet, it’s more like a hospital lol
Can you call and ask to speak to the bunny vet or bunny nurse? I get the feeling that you aren’t talking to the right people. I also have a mama cat and her son, both adults, but they can’t usually tolerate being separated. Mama a huge girl and they are always wiling to put them both in the same cage, which is a tight fit.
I will try and ring them but it’s 11:10pm so I doubt there open lol
I might just Bring both of them in tomorrow and just tell them that they can’t bare to be separated
That shouold work…..I Think…..
Yeah…I don’t think anyone will be answering at 11:30pm. Where are you located? I’m Eastcoast and it’s only 7:30 here. I would definately bring them both tomorrow morning. I also brought my my little bunny bed box and a rug from their cage. The vet was so accommodating. They even put my cat in the cage next to them. Best of luck tomorrow. Please post how the surgery went.
okay i will i live in england and my carrier has a fluffy bottom so yeah lol
