        Hey guys!

This is my first time posting here but I’ve been in and out for awhile. One of my rabbits, Quentin, has been sitting weirdly lately. Like sort of sitting up but kind of like a gargoyle. She’s also been grinding her teeth while she does this, but it’s not loud and it’s the same grinding she does when I pet her. When I go to pet her, she loafs and starts grinding her teeth even more. She’s still eating and drinking with no problem, and it’s hard to tell with two rabbits but I believe she’s still pooping and peeing normally. I’m just worried cause she’s usually laying down but I keep finding her in this position. I offered her a treat also and she ran up and jumped into my lap like normal. Both of my rabbits, Togi and Quentin, are spayed females that are a year old if that helps at all.

Please, if you have any ideas, let me know! I’m so worried about her, but am I worrying for nothing? It’s been storming a lot here, is she just nervous or something?

Thank you all for your help! Here’s a picture of the two of them!

Quentin is on the left and Togi is on the right!

Sounds like she could be in some sort of pain? Could be gas, or maybe dental pain? Or something else?

Rabbits hide pain well, so often there’s just one thing that’s weird. Inability to relax or sit comfortably is a symptom of pain. The grinding could also be pain… it’s hard to know what counts as “loud”.

Does she feel gassy? Is she holding one foot weird?

I would prob start with a vet check-up, including a dental exam to make sure her molars aren’t bugging her.

Thank you for the suggestions! I looked into it being a gas problem, and gave her a little tummy massage (which she wasn’t thrilled with). As of right now, I can say she is binkying all over the house and flopping with full force again! I think all is well now. I really appreciate all your help!

I was going to suggest Gas too – as at the early start mine would still eat a treat but would sit like that, so I know it was starting.

Do you have baby gas drops on hand? The ingredient in it is Simethicone, which breaks up gas bubbles in the stomach and is safe for babies and is also vet approved for being safe for rabbits.

I’ve found with that, along with belly rubs, and (unfortunately) “nicely” chasing the bunny a bit to get them moving around really does help break it up.
They say that after 3 doses if it hasn’t helped and probably isn’t going to – so then to get them to vet right away.
(As I’m sure you know, bunnies can’t go for longer than 10 to 12 hours with out any food moving through their stomach)

Glad your little one is better now though Just some tips in case there is a next time (hope their isnt)
