Ah gosh it’s been on sale at my Safeway for about a month now!
Velvet seems to have less wheezing already, I went up to her and she sniffed me all over and it wasn’t the usual UG UG UG UG sniff. She’s in the guestroom now so I haven’t sat in there for awhile to hear her sneezing. So hopefully I’m not just imagining she is getting better already but I sure hope so
Thank you LashkayShe’s been so sweet, I really hope she is easy to give the meds to in the morning. Also …I am going on tour on Wednesday till Friday with my orchestra ….so that means my mom is going to give her the meds 2x a day. Ahhh thank you mom!!!!

I was surprised to see the support had been changed to Rainbow Bridge too, but I can see why it’s been done. A few posts have been made here that are really just bunny slaves looking for moral support, but this was supposed to be the remembrance section and I think maybe it’s been changed so the support requesting posts don’t get missed. I suspect a new section will be made for that purpose…or maybe not? I’m sure an admin will move your post when they have time.
In the meantime, I am SO relieved I didn’t come in here and see another of our dear ones had crossed over! Although I can imagine, having a constantly sneezy bunny myself, how terrified you must’ve been to see Velvet having breathing difficulties. I probably should get Mimzy checked again too, I’m not sure if his bronchitis has come back. (Can bronchitis become chronic in bunnies? I know I had it several years in a row in high school.)
Pleuritis…I looked it up. Only found one article: http://en.allexperts.com/q/Rabbits-703/2008/2/Bunny-pleuritis.htm This bunny sounded as if it had the infection for awhile though, so luckily you’ve caught it early.
Hopefully that Baytril clears her right up. Mimzy’s vet gave him Zithromax for his bronchitis, but he’d already been through every other antibiotic we could give him, and a few more than once.lol…I get so down on myself when I incorrectly gender a bunny. I’ve done it on all of mine before getting to know them better. I would’ve sworn Luke was really a Luke! I mean…some boy bunnies (cough*Mimzy*cough) just look feminine and vice versa. I suppose that means someone’s going to be lined up for a spay when she’s feeling better (and your bank account has recovered)?
All my pets SO need checkups. I think that’s what drains me, not the daily care. I love spending time with all my babies, although having so many and of such varying species makes it difficult for there to be enough Mum to go around. I feel bad if one gets more attention on some days than another.
You’re still young though, Lin…so you have the energy to be in so many places at once! ^_^

Thanks for posting that link, pretty interesting. I hope my vet is correct then, he’s done really well with our dogs so I trust him. Her nose looks normal now so I think it has to be working. She’s eatting lots of veggies still and loves the baytril! And yes my vet said after she is better I can spay her right away, I’m just going to wait until she is 100%.

I think perhaps the limited eyesight in rabbits may be especially profound in loppies.
I don’t think Mimzy realizes that Fiver is a boy, he does keep trying to snuggle up with him and I think it will cause some jealousy problems when I try to bond all three. Pip apparently only sees Fiver as a little bug-eyed creep. (Thinks of Georgette in Oliver & Co.) lolz…Bee is lookin’ for a little sistahood in the bunny department! She’s surrounded by boys and an aggressive Plum Bun with a light saber! ^_^ Just don’t let the two of them get ahold of your car keys and the credit card! BUNNY SHOPPING SPREE! 0_o “Yes, just have that truckload of carrots delivered to….”
Isn’t it cool when they do like the meds? Mimzy does not really care for his oral antibiotics when he gets them, but loves the taste of children’s benadryl. I can get him to take that practically without trying. Otherwise it’s a wrestling match fit for the WWF!
Of course, if the Baytril is BUNana flavored…well that’s just cheating! ^_^ -

She’s looking great, loving her meds and her nose is still clear. She’s sooo sweet and omaigosh she LOVES headrubs. My mom gets to give her the meds tomorrow since I am going down south 5 hours on my wind symphony tour. She’s going to be greeted by a head waiting for rubs!!! I already warned her lol. Had a bunch of parsley tonight and fresh hay. I am going in for a recheck this Sunday. Fingers and Ears crossed!!

She’s still nomming those meds like a trooper. It will be interesting to see what the vet has to say! I think her URI is clearing up for sure. I lay down next to her and give her attention and she hasn’t been sneezing that I have seen and her nose is still dry and fur looks very clean around it. Lookin good! -
Mimzy would often do really well on his antibiotics and then worsen again as we were coming off them. She may turn around. But it’s good you’re going to see the vet. I don’t recall, did you get a culture done? I know they’re expensive, but sometimes that’s what’s needed to pinpoint the illness.
I couldn’t use Carefresh for Mimzy. Despite it’s nice texture, it just makes too much dust/lint when I put that in his pen, and would aggravate his nose. Fiver and Pip will eat it and it them upsets their delicate tummies.
It’s a shame, I do like it’s absorbency. Fiver’s heels were nicer when I used that in his litterbox.((((((((((((((((((((((more healing vibes in high gear))))))))))))))))))))))))

I’ve gotten permission from the father unit to tear up my carpet. And I’ve been trying to sell my fishtank on craigslist…so far no luck really.
I think she might need another week of meds…I don’t know I’ll find out soon enough! And she does need more photos and videos huh?!

Us waiting at the vets.
Sigh. I am not very happy tonight. My vet wasn’t there and I didn’t really like the vet that I got. He didn’t seem to care like MY vet and didn’t even greet me, introduce himself or pet Velvet.
Another week of baytril to be safe, he said her lungs sound really good.

Another week of Baytril…okay…she likes it, and actually it’s good for them to be on a firm regimen that lasts a little longer. As long as she doesn’t develop any problem with the meds, just hang in there. Hopefully she’ll be all better soon! Cool that you get to tear up the carpet. I have to remove the one in the front of my house some time this summer and I want to put down hardwood or linoleum. I’m sick of dirty carpet! >.<

I’m so sorry to hear it.
I’ve had him on just about every antibiotic that he can take, including those vile Pen-G shots that we could never get into him right. He still has a boogery nose and you can hear the whistles as he breathes in and out. Sneezing too. Last time the doc found bronchitis and Zithromax worked pretty well on it. But I have to conclude it’s something in the house that’s bothering him, and probably Fiver as well if I think about it. (I might add we just found mold in one of our windows in the front room, if that’s traveling around the house it may explain a lot of stuff, even if it’s not a virulent strain.) I note that Pip seems to be unaffected by anything that floats around in our home that I can tell. Guess being part palomino gives her a stronger constitution.What has happened with your carpet situation, btw?

They should probably do a deep nasal swab (she may have to have a little happy gas to get a good sample) to distinguish exactly what the pathogen is.

I found that while Mimzy was being treated for his snotty nose that if I gave him any sweet/carb foods (banana, apple, craisins, even some of his healthy treats like lettuce, willow twigs or timothy treats) he would get snotty again. Maybe try eliminating her sweets for awhile until she’s cleared up? I know, it’s really hard to say no to those big doe eyes, but maybe just try it for a short period of time to see if it makes a difference.
We went through quite a few antibiotics. I too think that maybe one or two of them if used long enough would do better than jumping around treatments so much. I know these drugs are not the best for their little tummies, but if it was one that was working until just after we stopped it and Mimz was tolerating it well, I don’t understand why we couldn’t just continue the regimen longer? The only one we really had trouble with was the Pen-G and that one that started with a “C” that I had to wear plastic gloves to administer because it was toxic for humans. Ugh, that was no fun. Also, does Velvet have a crock to drink from or a sippy bottle? I notice Mimzy sneezes after drinking from his bottle…although that may just be his physical characteristics that cause this. (He tends to get the water up his nose while drinking somehow.) And how firm is her hay? Does it have a lot of ‘crumbs’ and dust in it? Mimzy also seems to be good at snorking this stuff up his nose and that can’t be any fun for his sinuses.
I’m so sorry that things are still unsettled at home, Lin. I wish I could be there to give you a big old hug. (((((((((((((((((Lintini)))))))))))))) My daughter also sleeps late in the day and stays up at night and this lessens her contact with the rest of the family and doesn’t do anything for her depression either. She’s stuck without her GED still and it doesn’t seem like anything I try motivates her to get that diploma. I don’t think she’ll feel self-sufficient till she does get it and yet I know she’s afraid to eventually leave home and be her own person, so it’s a tough row to hoe.
I hope, like the other members, that you are able to get something done for your physical symptoms as well. Did you ever get a different medicine for the coughing? My granddad would always tell me that if I didn’t have my health I had nothing, and to this day I believe it. One never feels like doing anything when one is ill, and that just makes everything else that is bumming us out around us seem worse.We all care about you, kiddo. You have to take care of yourself, okay? ((((((((((((((((((((((((((more big hugs))))))))))))))))))))))))))) And I know sometimes, especially when they are ill as well, that it’s daunting to think of how our bunnies need us so much, but I know you want to be at your best for them too.
They’re a big job but they give so much joy in return. Take some of that joy and apply it to your heart at least 5 times a day, that’s mother’s doctor’s orders.

I really love LPT’s quotes. I have suffered from moderate depression as a teen and as an adult. I no longer take medication (I manage other ways, exercising, reading, but I do live with adult ADD) but I really hope that you get some treatment

Yea I really am thinking of getting my BA in 2 quarters then not going into the teaching credential program and looking into a different career. Having a music degree is a huge plus because of how I’ve been playing instruments since age 8, how I have applied them and how I can use the way I have trained myself on them to other things in life and how I am creative and can think out of the box, which is something very important when enriching animals in a zoo where you want them to be in as natural as habitat as possible. I don’t know, its an idea, its a great idea that I feel really happy about and could see myself doing something like that. Vet medicine should have been my calling but my parents said they wouldn’t pay for vet school and I didn’t know I could take out loans….I was llike 17 and didn’t know anything about that…I thought my dreams of that were done…I don’t know, I settled for my second love, my horn. I could do something with animals and audition for semi pro groups…it would be really hard to get into a group that could pay me a living salary.
I am super pissed right now, my mom was in the craftroom and she had the door open and both dogs were surrounding Velvet’s cage and I just completely lost it on her like WTF ARE YOU LETTING THE DOGS DO!?? 2 stupid little annoying dogs that would love nothing more than hunt a rodent. She won’t talk to me now, I have no idea what she was thinking like that was okay to let them sniff her and scare the bunny poop out of her. I was like seriously mom???? you want her to get well and you let the dogs just hound the cage????? OMG I am so raged. I hate my home.
