Could you all help me to remember, a while back we posted a list of the calcium content of various veggies (greatest to least) that are safe to give bunnies. Does anyone remember where that is?

Thankies! ^_^ And a Blessed Easter to all!

Yea, about that… Am I allowed to feed Fern parsley daily? Or is it too high in calcium?? She LOVES Parsley and I feed her some along with her Romane. Is it true that one should not worry about the calcium content of veggies because the pellets,no matter what kind, have much higher calcium content then the veggies?

Well, pellets are more concentrated in calcium. Obviously our rabbits need calcium for their bones too so we wouldn’t want to eliminate it.

I think there is not enough known about how rabbits actually metabolise calcium – any vet will tell you this. They just don’t have enough studies.

I think if your rabbit is showing signs of sludge then your vet might at that time want you to watch the calcium. But like I said and I’ve had many rabbits with bladder sludge and many rabbits without bladder sludge who are on the same diet – we just don’t know.

That’s a great article! Moonlight, is your vet concerned about too much calcium in Fern’s diet? Is she exhibiting signs of sludge?

No she is not at all. I was just wondering because I don’t want to be feeding her too much parsley. But I see now that I should not be worried about that.
