My buns have constant access to the outdoors. We built them a “two room” hutch which allows them to go in or out at their leisure. The hutch is completely enclosed so that no predators can get in  and there is no access to dangerous plants (raised floor of wire covered with straw).

Do the buns need any vaccinations because of this set-up?

Hi toreishi, it depends on where you live whether or not vaccinations are given to rabbits. Such as in England and Finland there are vaccinations to be done, it would be a good idea to consult with your rabbit savvy vet about this. I also wanted to add, as with the obvious predators there are also fleas, ticks and flies to worry about as well. Generally I do not like to see rabbits with constant access to the outdoors, even if it is very well constructed. There are just too many things that could happen.

I was thinking as well, It’d be good for those bunnies that are housed outdoors or get to visit outdoors, to drape mosquito netting (even loosely) around the outside of their cage. This will at least reduce bug bites and you won’t really have to worry about flys or bees as well.
