V and Lucy got in a fight!

Lucy has been home for a week and a half now and today she got out of her area and over to V and they started fighting *cue sobbing noises*. I am positive that neither rabbit is injured, although V is missing a huge chunk of fur from his back. They live in the same room, but Lucy is confined to a big wire dog crate and then I have an xpen up so she can run around when I’m watching… Today I stupidly walked away and lo and behold, she jumped over the xpen and got to V. They have never actually had a bonding session, but they can interact between the bars of the xpen and dog crate.

She still has about 2 months before she can be spayed. V is neutered, of course. What do I do? I could move Lucy to my boyfriend’s apartment, but then neither rabbit it going to get as much attention as they get right now. I’d like to keep her here, but they will have to remain in the same room. I could put a sheet over her dog crate to limit interaction between them, but they would obviously still smell each other. I am very afraid of ruining this relationship! Any advice is really really appreciated!

I’m not sure if you’ve come up with a solution already or not but I think they’re find at your place.

Laying a sheet or blanket over the x-pen can act as a visual barrier and keep a bunny from escaping an X-Pen. I wouldn’t let them have access to each other, even through an X-Pen/Crate unless you’re supervising.

A visual barrier is not a bad idea. Can you block vision without entirely covering the crate? You’ll want them to become accustomed to each other whether they bond down the track or not. They’ll slowly get used to each others smell and regular noises.

I’d try keep your BF’s place as a neutral bonding space for the future. If he’s ok with that. :p
