Ok, holy load removed…I QUIT my job today!! I really really really really really hated my job and I finally decided ENOUGH!! AHhhhhhhhhh I took my old job back (sort of the old job but not really; but old employer) and it might pay a bit less, but so worth it-no strife!!

AND I am the ‘volunteer coordinator’ for the horse rescue I volunteer at!! Not something I wanted to take over, more interested in fundraising etc. but it needed to be done and she wanted me to, and hey-I think I’m doing pretty good!!

ALSO there is a horse clinic in British Columbia next month and she’s taking me there, and paying for it, and letting me take one of the ridable rescue horses there!! I am soooo honored and EXCITED!!

Anyways had to share my news with you all-you’re totally my family

I don’t blame you for quitting a job you hate. I quit a higher paying job for another when it just became too stressful. Happiness/Sanity is more important than dollar bills

That’s awesome about the horse rescue and clinic. Clinics are so much fun and you learn so much! What type of clinic is it? Do you ride English or Western?

Wow K & K…good for you! I am in the process of making that decision…the BF is in a panic about it…but I have another 20 years of work ahead of me and have to live through it. So I am leaning towards pleasing myself.

Great news about the clinic…a reward for your hard work and devotion. Congratulations.

wow! congrats on quitting! that’s a big step. i don’t know how it is in Canada, but in the US, the job market stinks. quitting a job rightnow is a major risk. but at least you have something to back you up.

i don’t know anything about horse clinics… but it souds like you’re excited, so YAY!

                k&k,
Good for you! Obviously you had a job to go to that you knew you preferred (or workplace at least) before leaping. Way to go!!!
You spend more time at your job than your home (awake) – it has to be tolerable at a minimum and meet your needs. After years of being in similar situations I now find myself FINALLY liking where I work – but unable to care for myself financially. It’s so hard to cope with. What’s the nature of your work? (Forgive me, but I keep thinking it’s architecture and that’s probably due to another post this week.)

The horse rescue sounds amazing. They’re lucky to have volunteers – where I work now relies on them as well, and one other staff person and I coordinate them too. It’s not an easy job, so don’t blame yourself if you feel like it’s not always going smoothly. A great deal of patience is required, not to mention stepping in when a volunteer cancels 15 minutes before they’re due to arrive. I’m sure you’ll be great – and the clinic trip sounds AMAZING! Very best of luck.

Congratulations on quitting!! K&K!! You shouldn’t be working somewhere where its just a drag…too bad we can’t make our living through bunny slaving…

I make sure I’ll have a glass of wine for you tonight!! Celebrate!!

Awww thanks everyone!! I’m so happy here at the new/old place

Puffy I ride english, I believe the clinic is either/or but it might be western…which I learned first and can do too!

Beka, the job market here is truly an employees market (at least in Alberta) Our minimum wage is under eight dollars an hour and entry positions in fast food are starting at fourteen dollars an hour, everywhere has a help wanted ad…It’s just a matter of liking where you work and what you do!

Rabbitpam-I was doing customer service in a valve repair shop (Emerson) but now I’m back coordinating scheduling at the Good Samaritan Hospital SOOO happy to be back and see friends again!

Awesome, I ride English too. Although my horse is still lame so I’m riding a borrowed barrel racer right now.
