OK, OK… So my church friend called about 5 seconds ago… Kizzy will be ready to come home on SUNDAY!!!!!  I’m excited… but nervous, but excited, but scared, but happy, but nervous….

I have everything ready for her, and have for sometime, but I’m just so nervous, her vet said, they look fine, they’ve been away from mom for about 5 days, and are completely eatting hay, and pellet on their own now too. They are drinking, pooping and peeing just fine as well. I have my vet, and I’m thinking about taking her to see them just incase, they’ve seen Oreo and Oliver already.

So I’m thinking about letting Kizzy and Oliver meet, how should I go about doing that? I’m planning on waiting awhile, just because I know Kizzy will be nervous at first, being in a strange place. I don’t want to do it, if there’s the possibility of her getting pregnant, or them hurting each other though. She’s only 6 weeks old, and he’s about 12 weeks according to my vet.

Thanks so much for your help ladies, I will post pictures as soon as I can!!!!

That’s exciting! I’m sure she’ll be fine after she gets adjusted. I’ve heard some babies take more time than others. Freya has an amazing sense of adventure and was ready to explore after a few hours. By her second day she was causing trouble. I guess that’s what babies do. Can’t wait to see the new little one!

That’s great news. You will post lots of pix after Sunday, right?
I always think it’s a good idea to take a new bunny to the vet for a baseline exam and any questions you may want to ask. In the meantime, browse around the info. section here for a refresher for new bunnies in the house and on babies.

I would caution you not to put Kizzy and Oliver together at all until one of them is speutered. It is more urgent to do a female due to the risk of cancer, but if he’s older you could have him done first. It’s just that a young female reaches sexual maturity within months, and if you miscalculate, it only takes seconds for her to get pregnant. Until she gets spayed, even if he’s neutered she will have active teen hormones so it will make bonding a bit trickier. I think the best time is in a few months when they are both fixed, settled in, bonded to you separately, and familiar with each other’s smell and presence in the home. You can get them started soon with some surrogate stuffed animals that have each others’ scent.
She sounds like a little cutie!

Congratulations on your new adorable bunny and congrats to kizzy for getting a great human.

I agree with rabbitpam about the vet and about waiting. You’d have to separate them again anyway pretty soon.
Also be prepared for some poopwars and messy stuff. But I am sure they are so adorable that it won’t even phase you. ; )

I can’t remembrer but are Oreo and Oliver bonded? IF so, just know that if you let Oliver meet Kizzy right now this could cause problems between Oreo and Oliver, since Oliver would have Kizzy’s scent on him.

I can’t wait to see photos!

Well Kizzy is HOME!!!! She’s gotten SOOOOOOOOOOOOO big!!!! and FLUFFY!!!! When we got “her” home, I was looking her over, and kind of cleaning her up a bit, (she used straw in their hutch) and notice that “she” looked alot… exactly like Oliver “down there!”  So I think “she” is a HE! The vet confirmed that Oliver is a boy, and they are identical in that area!!!! So the name Kizzy is sticking, and we are going to talk to the vet on Tuesday to make sure. Since I’m almost 99.99999999% sure they are, would that hurt any chances of bonding them? (to answer your question Binky, no Oliver and Oreo are not bonded. &#160 Could I start them soon, seems they are both so young would that maybe help?

Anyway, here is a picture of him, he’s really scared tonight of course, so not the greatest picture, I will try for some more when he’s more comfortable with his surroundings! Thanks so much everyone for ALL your help!!!

Gulp – what a tiny fluffball!  3crazyboybuns!  You’re going to be a busy woman!  I think Kizzy sounds unisexed.  I saw a rescue bun once named Kizzy and it was a boy.

I just went “Ohhhhh” out loud, Kizzy is SO ADORABLE!

It is a unisex name, and a cute one at that, so let us know what pronoun to use.

                                Hello ALL!!!

Kizzy is doing great!!! HE had HIS first visit to the vet today, HE is healthy as a HORSE, and is in fact a BOY! The vet said it would be just fine to put him and oliver together, and thought that it would be a good idea anyway, and that would stand a better chance at bonding, than trying to bond them with Oreo, since Oreo was a breeding bun. She actually recommended that Oreo be a bachlor, because of his past, and thought it would be quite challenging for me to try and bond him. Anyway, I think I may let them meet this after noon and see how things go. I will let everyone know what happens!!!

Well, you may find it challenging to bond two males, especially if not neutered. It doesn’t matter if they are young it’s when they reach sexual maturity when they can become territorial regardless if they have been best buddies before. However, I have also heard of success stories with this, though not common -  so I would just be careful.

                                  Keep us updated! Good Luck!

                                  How did this session go?

I was actually quite Shocked with the outcome of their first meet, Oliver did some humping at first, and Kizzy just sat there and took it, then after about 2 minutes, of off and on humping from Oliver they just laid there for a few minutes (tired I guess!) and then Kizzy went over to oreo and started grooming him!! I was quite shocked, and then Oliver returned the favor.  I ended on this note!

Well, just shut my mouth. That is great news!!!! Amazing actually. But the fact that one of the bunnies, so far, is taking the passive role is good.  My best friend had a similar experience with her two male bunnies. Ya just never know! Keep us updated.
