        Hello All

My computer has been down for almost 6 weeks.  We finally got it back.  Just wanted to give everyone an update on everyone.  Oreo was spayed 2 weeks ago, she did well.

She had 5 boys and 1 girl.  I was able to find homes for 4 on the condition if things did not work out that they are to bring them back to me.  (not that I have the room but I do not want anyone to be mean or just drop them off some where)  so far no returns.  We kept 2 boys. Everyone is getting along well.  I was told that the boys will probally fight.  I do not have that problem.

Having a bit of a problem with chewing.  I bought bitter apple and that seems to be working well.  I also found if the boys are caged at night everything seems to go better the next morning.  I put baby gates in the bedrooms but the babies are clearing them. I found wire damage in the bedroom such as the Ihome ac adapter, sony play station steering wheel and the wired controller.  I went to Home Depot and bought non toxic plastic tubing by the foot, sliced it down the center and covered wires.  I am still not done.  I have given them 2 by 4’s to give them better direction they seem to like the wood that is connected to furniture and walls. Any idea’s would be great.

The breed is a mix of mini lop and lion head.  They are beautiful I will post on photo bucket.  Link will be at the bottom of the page.

they are such unique-looking buns! absolutely beautiful. here’s a tip… if you get them both neutered (at the same time) as soon as possible, usually 3.5 months… they may not fight at all. i’m glad to hear Oreo’s spay went well!

they’re adoreable!   i keep my buns in their enclosures when i’m gone or sleeping.  they’re out only when i’m there to keep an eye on them, altho ‘keeping an eye on them’ can mean being in the next room.  i can usually hear mischief apart from elec cord chewing which i have also solved with cord protectors.

you can also try blocking off a whole section of a room that has too many chewable temptations.  i do this with my kitchen table & chairs.  my late father made them and i just don’t want to risk having them ruined by little teeth.  i zip tied NIC panels in 2 diff sections so they can be used for other purposes when needed & have them clipped together to surround the table & chairs.  i fold them like an accordian to put them away.

Theu vet I took Oreo to said they will not neture unitl 5 months old.  He wants to wait for the testicles to drop.  They are 10 weeks old tonight when will they drop?

3.5 months is when they drop. they can be neutered as soon as that happens. are there other rabbit savvy vets in your area. once the testicles drop they will most likely start to fight if not neutered right away. you could wait til 5 months, but they’ll need separate enclosures, runtime, etc.

Oh those babies are just precious! I see you have the cage door hanging down. Are you not worried they will catch their feet in between the wires? I have my door propped up so it is flat with a towel covering it. Maybe I am overly concerned but I have this picture in my head that a foot could get caught and get really hurt!

The door doesn’t even effect them they clear the door.  Actually they clear the baby gates I have up too.

Wow they are beautiful…Looks like your Oreo met a lionhead man…You have lionlops (an actual breed, but not yet recognized as lionheads aren’t yet either). Cute!! Thanks for the updated pictures!! Beka’s advice is good, if you get them fixed at the same time, that’d probably work out best for bonding. Great pics!

lionheads are still a fairly recent breed – so that may be why.

i am glad to hear you’ve had such good luck finding homes for the babies yelpot!
