For the last few days, Ms. Rabbit has been acting a little off. She’s normally a very bubbly, curious rabbit, but for the last few days, she’s seemed tired and not interested in playing or snuggling. I’ll go into the bunny room with treats in my hand, and she’ll just continue laying down – which is unheard of for her. Until today, she was eating normally, didn’t have any visible injuries and didn’t seem gassy, so I just figured that she must be running around while I’m not looking.
Earlier today, I went into the bunny room with pellets in my hand. Mr. Bunny ran up to me and went nuts, as usual, but Ms. Rabit was nowhere to be found. “Rabby-girl! I’ve got yummies!’ …No response. After searching the whole room, I found her scrunched up in a remote part of their maze haven – which is also unheard of for her. I put her by the scattered pellets, and she just sat there, not eating. She seemed vaguely interested in the pellets, but she wouldn’t actually eat them. After a few minutes, she started eating, albeit much slower than usual.
A few minutes ago, I picked her up and snuggled with her for a few minutes. My mother tried to give her a dried-out raisin – Ms. Rabbit’s favorite. She sniffed it, grabbed it in her front teeth, and then just sat there. I literally had to shove it in her mouth for her to eat it. After I put her back down, I gave the bunnies another sprinkle of pellets. She picked a few up in her front teeth and then dropped them again before running back to the maze.
She’s also had one slightly runny eye lately, if that makes any difference. I just swiched to a new (dustier) kind of timothy hay, so it might be related to that. Also, as far as I can tell, she’s still been eating veggies normally.
Could this possibly be the onset of tooth problems or GI stasis, or does it sound like something that’ll pass in a few days?
