My sweet bunny is not neutered as of yet. He is a year and a half old. My bunny did not start trying to hump things or circle my feet until late February of this year, when he was already a year old, long after the 4 month mark of when a bunny is supposed to hit adolescence. Anyways since last week he abruptly stopped trying to hump things and circle my feet. Is it possible that he only shows hormonal behavior during bunny mating season? The timing would make sense if that is true. Or is this something that I need to take him to the vet for? Obviously my worse fear is testicular cancer being the cause but I looked at his boy bits and they look normal and he’s showing roughly the same amount of energy and is not visibly losing weight. Good appetite too.

I don’t have much experience with neutering, but my bun used to hump and circle all the time, regardless of the season until I got him neutered. Of course every bun is different, but it may be a good idea to take him to the vet. Hope this helps.

It makes sense to me that it could be seasonal and in the spring, and some buns are late bloomers who don’t show many hormonal behaviors right away. The main reasons for neutering are behavioral and litter box habits (plus un-neutered boys can be so stinky!) because testicular cancer is pretty rare in bunnies (unlike uterine cancers in females, which are super common). But if you are concerned you can talk to your vet.
