I feel like Freya’s had a real string of bad luck lately. No matter how close an eye I keep on her she seems to always hurt herself somehow and I feel so bad. Just as I was petting her goodnight now I noticed something hard at the bottom of her shoulder blade and there’s like a weird scab there. She has a teeensy patch of fur missing on her nose it’s almost missable but there’s a dot of blood if I move her fur away and I initially suspected Tybalt may have done it but i can’t imagine he could have ever gotten to this part of her body to do the other damage? It’s already scabbing and she’s behaving perfectly normal but I worry about an infection or an abscess or something crazy because it’s obviously broken skin. Does it look like anything specific or do you think she just managed to get into trouble somehow?

It is an area bunny will hold with their teeth if mounting another. Has Tybalt tried to do that?

The area doesn’t look too bad and with new fur growing already it appears to be healing.

Has she had any shots recently, by chance? The patch reminds me of a reaction I’ve seen on some of my own rabbits in the past.

They’re still at a ‘strict supervision’ stage with their bonding so I’ve never left them alone together so I’m almost positive it wasn’t him – even if their pens managed to get too close to one another, he could never reach that part of her body through the bars?

she hasn’t had any shots recently no but I guess I’m just concerned if there’s anything I should look out for which would let me know that it’s getting worse or turning into something more? Thankfully she’s her complete normal crazy self but I’ll keep an eye on it for the next few days, thanks!

It does kind of look like a scab from a vaccine. But they haven’t gotten any shots recently, then I agree it could be from mounting.

I’d say keep an eye. Look out for swelling, redness, seepage and  perhsps above sll, formstion of a growing lump underneath the skin.

To me it looks like a nip wound from another bun, if a vaccination jab is ruled out. Most wounds like this will heal just fine without any intervention, but you should still keep a close eye. It’s very good to take a photo daily so you can compare from day to day. It keeps you from having to wonder if it actually has grown in size or shrunk or if it’s much the same as the day before. It’s just not possible to remember exactly over time, so pix are a great help.

Thanks a lot Bam I’ll definitely take progress pics of it and keep a close eye.

Seriously trying to rack my brain and think how this could have happened! Is there anything I can do to help it heal?

You can put plain Neosporin (no pain reliever) on it if you want.
