Hey everyone! I haven’t posted in a while but we have been so busy here! Got married and had guests visiting and you know how it goes.

Anyway Yesterday Sprinkles started doing something unusual. He was fixed back in March or April but yesterday he started running around feet and honking again like he used to. He has also started using the potty outside of his cage ALL OVER THE HOUSE much more often lately. It’s getting to be a problem. He’s left huge cecatropes (I have no idea how to spell that) in the middle of the floor numerous times, to the dismay of me and my fuzzy slippers. Is it possible he’s somehow become ‘un-fixed’? That could also explain territory marking a bit more (although, so could two weeks of having strangers in the house).

I was thinking about calling the vet but we aren’t due back for over a month so I thought I’d ask here first. Any ideas?

If he’s already fixed I would guess his behavior is about all the strange people in his house. It smells weird now so he needs to fix it. ^^

Rabbits very much like routine. He simply may be reacting to the strange new people and scents in the house. Try and keep his routine as normal as possible.

Does everything else seem okay? Eating fine, normal poos, ect.

Yes besides him pooing in the middle of the floor yeah it’s all normal. People have been gone a few days now so hopefully he will get back to normal. Mostly his routine is okay now, we weren’t able to let him out to play nearly as often when people were over because we were gone all day..

I’d never seen him circle and honk since a few weeks after he was fixed so it just worried me some. I know sometimes human men can get ‘unfixed’ so I wanted to make sure!

With human men they perform vasectomies but with bunnies they perform castration. There’s no way for him to become “unfixed” unless he re-grows testicles.

                  Unless the vet missed one.

I agree with the others though, it could just be the strange people and disruption to his routine that triggered all this territorial stuff.

The cecotropes on the floor doesn’t really sound to me like marking territory, I have a poop-marking bunny and it’s always the round droppings he leaves (along the entrance to the living-room, where I have a gate that separates this bunny from the other bunny). He does it again as soon as I pick them up, and never leaves poop anyhere else except in the litter-box, so they’re definitely no accidents but marking.

If you bun is producing excess cecotrophes his tummy may be a little upset. That could of course be from all the recent commotion or maybe you need to adjust his diet a little.

@MoveDiagonally and LBJ10 – Hah, you’re right! Shows how much I know about anatomy, lol…

@Bam – I’m going to see if he does it any more over the next week.. we haven’t changed his diet much, though! I’ll keep an eye on it, thank you.

I’m going to mark this topic as resolved if it will let me. You were all very helpful, thanks!
