Well, my sweet little Coconut has figured out how to jump on my bed which is fine, BUT he’ll pee on the covers!!  Any advice on how to stop this from happening? He is getting neutered on October 14th.

Sadly I don’t have any suggestions on how to keep him from peeing on the bed, my bun isn’t allowed in our room…but on another note,

OMG WHAT A CUTE BUNNY BUTT!!!!!

hollands definitely have the cutest bunny butts in my opinion ^_^

My best advice – keep him off the bed. Rabbits think beds are big litter boxes.

Oh I love the bunny butt! Jaguara, look at that puffy little tail

As for the peeing, Sarita is right, keep him off the bed.  Even well-litterbox-trained bunnies can’t resist peeing on soft things all of the time.  I LOVE having mine on the couch with me to snuggle, but it’s just inevitable, she will pee on it.  I started laying my car’s sun visor (those crinkley silver ones) on the couch until she figured out not to jump on it.  You can also use tin foil, rabbits hate tin foil.

Thanks ^_^ he kept posing for the cutest bunny butt all day but when I grabbed my camera he would get up.

I never would have thought of tin foil, thats a good idea. I will have to try that for places I dont want mine to go. May not work though, my bun chewed through my husbands champagne foil tops :/ Kind of his fault really I told him that we needed to block it off if we didnt want him to get to it…he still refuses to this day to put up any kind of barrier oh well maybe he will learn some day

The problem is Coconut lives in my room so it’s so hard to keep him off the bed. I’ve been putting him in his NIC cage at night when I sleep and also when I’m at work. I will try the tin foil or car shade! Thanks!

Jaguara- they do have the cutest butts! and don’t forget their huge feet!

Keep him off the bed – you can use NIC panels to block off the bed so he can’t jump up when you’re gone, or place something up there he doesn’t like. My bun is allowed on the bed but he doesn’t think it’s a litter box, so not had that specific problem… but anything smelly keeps him away from them cause he hates anything with a strong smell.

Velvateen loved peeing on my bed and papasan. However, it was important bonding time for us because at that time, he had a broken leg which had a cast on it and any time he was out of the cage he would bolt… Keeping him on the bed with me or on my chest when sitting on the papasan was a big way that we were able to interact. I kept a litter box right next to the bed and every 5 minutes, I’d put him in it. Once I figured out how often he really needed to pee, I was able to keep him on my bed for 10 or 15 minutes at a time. EVERY time he went to the bathroom in the litter box, he got a lavish amount of verbal praise. This is actually how he was litter box trained… He couldn’t get in and out of a litter box with his cast on so his whole cage was covered in CareFresh. This was his first experience using the litter box.

It was such an ordeal and I still feel bad about it almost a year later. But V and I have such a strong bond because of it. I think our relationship would be very different if it hadn’t happened.

Another alternative is a plastic shower curtain. If he pees on it, easily washed off. No having to mess with tin foil and such

Hodari likes to play on our bed, too. I always put a litter box up there for her in her preferred corner, with a layer of towels and a sheet under it in case she pees over the edge. Before she was reliably trained to use the box, I used to put a couple of old, heavy blankets on the bed and washed them if she soiled them. A shower curtain should work just fine. Just be careful when you’re removing it so the urine doesn’t run off!

Silly Sungura, oh, I would really hate to put a litter box on the bed, but I guess that’s better then a soiled comforter! I will try out the advice I’ve recieved here and hopefully one of them will work! Thanks!

If you use something like the shower curtain (I used a vinyl tablecloth) then I recommend securing it by tucking it in if it’s big enough. Or use something rubber backed. So then it stays in place and if Coconut gets up there it won’t slide off.

Jelly demonstrates the perils of the slippery protector…

I haven’t had to worry about this as Vivian, nor did Jack ever really venture much into our bedroom. I don’t how I ended up with such good bunnies that way! (though Jack in his younger days was quite a destructo king with many things), but we have also had very high beds. The one before this one was a loft bed (so unless a bunny could learn to climb ladders..), and the one we have now is a very high sleigh bed, I have to have a step to get into it.

But I have to say that I have learned alot from the suggestions for Sugar . Thanks Tate for your story and experience as that was very interesting and informative and jersey, that was a good caution— cute video!!
