Uh-Oh! I’ve gone and done it!  By this time tomorrow, my home may (very likely) be a 2 bunny household.  I’m really nervous!  I responded to an ad in local paper.  2 yr old dwarf lop buck.  House trained. Free to good home.  Going to meet him tomorrow…will probably be bringing him home too as people sound keen for it to be dealt with.  They’re moving to smaller place.

Though I had planned on adding to household, “in the future” I hadn’t quite imagine going about it this way – but here I am!

I can’t believe I’ve done this. It’s feels impulsive but really it’s not as I have been mentally getting another one for some time. I’m normally one to deliberate over things endlessly then talk myself out of it. So, things do end up happening for me in this manner – out of the blue and quickly. Will wait and see until tomorrow if this all eventuates.

                Wow, that is big news!
Are you taking Jersey with you to meet him? I’m just thinking you could have a little date with them there, to avoid the worst case scenario. If they are neutral together, you’re going back home with two bunnies.

I know I tend to think the worst in these types of situations. Has this bun been seen by a vet recently, what kind of condition is the house in, are there other animals present? I would think twice about taking Jersey because the fact is, you don’t know what, if anything, she could pick up while there. Also, if he is not neutered yet, bunny dating will probably not be a good indication of how they could be together when hormones were no longer a factor.

That’s great (: I hope the meeting goes well. I bet Jersey would love the company. Don’t worry. If anyone’s the biggest sucker here it’s me.

Oh no, I won’t be taking Jersey with me. First, it’s way across town and I’d just be stressed about her. I don’t think I’ll even let them see each other in the beginning – we’ll see. I really don’t know how she’ll be around another rabbit as she was only in that situ when really young. Same goes for him too apparently. Also, I want to be sure he’s 100% healthy before I let them interact. (But don’t laugh at me if I post pics of them together tonight…I’ll try resist!)

All I know about him is he’s a lop (they say 1/2 lop? but I think they mean 1 ear is sometimes up) he’s a “grey-brown colour with white underneath”. I’m assuming agouti but really won’t know till I see him. Oh, and he’s neutered!!!!!!!! Phew! This was done early on. Heading off in about an hour but to be sure, I’ll give them a call 1st to see it’s definate I’ll be taking him. His name is “Hoppy” (Sir Hopsalot) but I’ll very likely be giving him a new name if he so agrees.
