Sorry everyone this is non bunny related I just felt like venting… so as some may know from reading the BB Weightloss posts from the past I tore my MCL last year on December 3rd by slipping on some ice and then falling again in my house. I spent 10 weeks on crutches and even now still have bad days with my knee however I JUST got the okay to start doing more and had basically felt like the problems were all behind me with the occasional soreness and BAM 1 year and 2 weeks later I am BACK on crutches with a stretched ligament in my ankle from YOU GUESSED IT slipping on ice lol
. The doctor says the recovery period should be a couple weeks lol so really it’s no where near as bad. But last year I was so upset I had to do all my Christmas shopping going around the mall in a wheel chair and I missed out on all the skating and winter sports and this year I was SOOOO excited to do all the things I missed and some normal shopping and now it seems I will be doing the same thing shopping this year and avoiding the skates for awhile.
So the moral of the story is… I’m the biggest clutz in the entire world! Now I’m going to go cuddle with my baby bun so that I can feel better, she thinks this is great btw because mommy is home all day and she gets to stay out and play and can’t get told off since mommy can’t get off the couch lol… but she’s being good… for the most part
Feel free to share any of your holiday injury stories or just injury stories in general so that I don’t feel like the unluckiest person alive ![]()
P.S. Thanks for listening to my rant! Love you all and hope you’re having a wonderful holiday season![]()
ETA: On the plus side I can spend all day on BB now and I’ve been going through withdrawls since I stayed away while doing exams
Well, that is a plus side – least we’ll have you with us more! :0 ) But yikes, so sorry about the bad luck around the holidays. I am a huge clutz too. Thankfully, I have somehow been spared of serious injury around the holidays.
But the rest of the time….Forget about it!! I have fallen into a small river while mountain biking (and there should have been no reason for it) I just panicked looking at the rushing water. Another time, I panicked biking down hill, slammed on the brakes, and flew down on the ground. Huge body/face scrape as I slid down the through the dirt and rocks. And there are a million similar incidents.
I have torn my ACL twice while skiiing and the last time I also had a muscle tear to go along with it. But hey, I have someone else’s donated ACL in my leg now, so maybe they’ll pass along some grace and hopefully I will treat their donation better! And you’d think…better for a clutz to just stay away from sports,(problem is I still love outdoorsy stuff) but I am also and everyday clutzy mess too.
If there is an invisible line in on the floor, I will find it and trip on it. And my brain can never seem to really keep track of my arms; I am always slamming them into things. And my left ankle just gives out (I think I tore a ligament when I was younger). I’ll be walking across a busy intersection and bam….flat on my face….no catching myself or anything, and it happens so fast! My husband will be walking right next to me, and he’ll be talking, and wham, all of sudden I disappear…down to the ground. It’s HORRIBLY embarrassing.
My bones must be strong enough though – never broke anything but my pinky finger, and I did that when I was in 5th grade showing off on the monkey bars during recess.
So, don’t worry, you’re in good company. Clutzes unite!
Well I forgot my arm once when putting on my shirt. I was walking out the bedroom door with the shirt over my head and straightening my arm to put the sleeve on. When wham I went through the door but my arm didn’t. It was sore for days.
Walking the dog falling down and having 7 stitches in my knee. Then going to Dad’s for visit for a few weeks falling on same knee and tearing a stitch.
Having back surgery just b4 thanksgiving and getting real sick . Was supposed to get out in 3 days ended up in there for 6 days yes even thanksgiving day. That was NOT fun.
Ever roll up the window on your hair? Well I used to a lot. Now I have it covered in a scarf so it doesnt’ happen anymore.
Ever open the car door turn your face getting out and slam it into the car window or the car door?
Grrr stubbing toes breaking the little toes broke 1 twice. Ohh mucking out a stall bringing the wheelbarrel to the dump spot sit it up to dump. Let go of it. Handle with no more rubber on it falls on my face on my upper lip. Cut my lip through to my gums. Was too scared of needles to go get stitches. Healed up ok.
Any more clutzes? Please share too.
LOL I could probably rival you for clutzyness-It’s hard to believe my kind of clutz until you’ve seen it in action
I bruise easy too, so I often look like a giant purple grape -I definitely look like I get beat up
Last Saturday, I tripped on the stairs at the shelter and slid down a flight of cement basement stairs on my butt…Bad enough but later going out to my car I did the splits on the ice and dislocated my hip. All in one day… *shakes head*
Or I’ve knocked my lip ring out twice-once caught a volleyball in the face, and then last year slipped on the ice on my face and knocked it out (I’m talkin bleeding swollen lip to boot!)
I have many many more stories LOL
Well Hopefully us sharing makes you feel better-or at least laugh a bit! ![]()
Awww well you guys did make me laugh!!! I know my clutziness runs in the family so I’ve just learned to accept that I will always be a walking accident waiting to happen lol. Well hopefully you all make it through the season injury free, I’m going a littl stir crazy but tomorrow I’ll get to get some Christmas shopping done yaaay!
Hi Guys…Samatha sorry you are in pain. Add me to the Klutz list. I got into a car that I have been driving for years and for some reason did not lower my head enough…I whacked the side of my head so hard I felt the pain on the other side. I had a flight cage of finches on top of book shelves. I was on the top of the step ladder feeding them and got so engrossed in watching them I forgot where I was and took a step backwards. Thank God the sofa was behind me. My mother was admitted to the emergency room during a snow storm and the only way to get to the hospital was to walk the 30 blocks. Half way there on a deserted street I slipped, my feet were level with my head and I came down on my tail bone. The only people around were 2 drunks across the road beating the crap out of each other. I had to lay on the sheet of ice until the stars died down and crawl to a fence to get up. Fortunatelly all I had was a bad bruise…which got worse when during the course of the next week I fell wmore times.and hitting the same spot.
K & K, I lost count of how many times I have stopped a basketball with my face. I use to have my team come home with me to keep my mother from yelling about my broken glasses. Can’t lick an envelope without getting paper cuts on my tongue. Knife skills? Lets just say, its a miracle I still have fingers. And burns from cooking which get worse because I forgot I was running hot water and so off course instead of cold water on a burned finger, I get a second burn.
…continued
Tonight I was getting in my parents tub to have a soak (they have a much nicer tub then I do-I rent-and I was freezing from working outside with horses all day (it’s almost forty below with the windchill) and I cranked my knee HARD into the marble getting into the tub!!! I can still hardly walk.
And I just broke a glass -no reason, walking through the kitchen and knocked one of my brand new wine glasses (That I just brought home) on the floor
*sigh* LOL
Girl…it’s a wonder we live to laugh about this stuff.
