my new bun is pretty calm. my old bun was so curios about the new bun, he walks up and sniffs with no hesitation. he will chase the other bun just to sniff, and the other bun will nip him to make him stop. the old bun wouldn’t hurt a fly, but the new bun wants his privacy. this makes it hard to bond, because the bun is too interested in the other one to do anything else. how can i fix this?

Well priority number one is not just throwing them together. You need to let the new bun settle in and get used to the new environment and to you. You’re stressing the new bun out a lot by just putting them together and not letting him settle. Are they both spayed/neutered? If not, they absolutely can’t be together due to hormones. You need to wait 1-2 months post-op in order to bond. You also need to do a month or two of prebonding by switching litter boxes and other items between the cages, as well as changing the buns out.
Your new bun is nipping because it’s scared.
