› FORUM › RESCUE EFFORTS FOR SHELTERS › Twinkle to be killed today – appeal from The Rabbit Haven
This is an appeal from The Rabbit Haven of Scotts Valley CA to help rescue an abused bunny who is to be killed today.

Twinkle came into the shelter covered in grease and debris. He has a slight old eye injury and is a bit wobbly,
most likely from being tired of running, trying to survive, and not having enough to eat.
He is getting stronger every day that he is at the shelter, but now overcrowding is forcing him out!
He is wobbly. No urine straining, normal input-output, no ear or nose discharge.
Can you help him please? The shelter has given me such a short time frame. He came from a neglect case and in my estimation he is
nutritionally depleted. He is a sweet fellow and has that spark of hope in his eyes, hence his name, Twinkle.
Today is his last day on this earth without intervention. Call us at 831 239-7119 if you can help.
I am going to the town where he is today so I could pick him up and bring him to you tonight, or we can arrange something.
Do you have any ideas on who can take him and love him.? Can you take him? We can transport. Twinkle boy needs love, support and good food.
The eye could benefit from TLC, eye drops and a warm pack until it improves. He has been dodging cars, surviving and making the best of
being dumped in the streets for some time. Surely there must be someone who will help him now. He has come so far. His eye issue is a non issue
to me. His outdoor condition and constant needs for survival are beginning to clear but he still has remnants of the edge of disaster in his
demeanor. He need so much love. Occasionally, you will see him take the chance to really look at us. When he does that,
the life spark is right there. I will have him neutered after he improves, but I have no place to put him.
Do you? Please help, we are so over full!
Please let me know if you can help rescue Twinkle. Call Auntie Heather at The Rabbit Haven 831 239-7119 or email director@therabbithaven.org.

oh, gosh I think I am going to cry. If I lived in california I would do it but I live in oregon.
A quick update – someone read my post on the Rabbits Online boards and she is going to adopt Twinkle this weekend! Keep your fingers crossed and hope that it goes through.
Oh gosh I am so glad to hear some good news about Twinkle.
I would adopt him … I would adopt any bunny who is going to be put down.
Hope all works out for that lil guy.
Dawn xx
NNNNNNNNOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!
Did they delay it with the possibility twinkle is going to be adopted? I have been thinking about this all night.
As far as I know, he is out on Sunday and headed to his new home. I do not know if that means we have to pull him now and foster for a few days, or if the shelter gave him a repreive.
just curious to know if twinkle made it to his new home?
He made it out! After nearly 10 hours of transport, he made it to his new home on September 30. He is settling in nicely in his new place, but his new mom thinks that he may be blind.
well i’m glad he made it home!!!
Hopefully he’s not blind but sounds like she will still take good care of him!!
Having a blind bunny is challenging at times, but I wouldn’t change it for the world. Connor is blind from being attacked as a baby, and he has adapted quite well. It makes bonding my boys a little harder but he can find his food and he drinks and he snuggles. Really the only problem is that he doesn’t like to move away from walls and corners to explore run and jump. But this could also be from his broken back.
He’s not blind. He is just a little far-sighted. The vet gave the all-clear
He is due to be neutered soon and has been doing very well. He’s moving around a lot more than before and seems to be adjusting perfectly. He’s being very well loved.
Hello
Are you Twinkle’s new mom then? Thats so exciting! That makes you famous on this site! ![]()
Or maybe a rabbitsonline member? The family that adopted him posts there a bunch.
Well any friend of Twinkles is now a friend of mine
!
Oh my goodness, what an emotional rollercoaster this thread is! I am so thankful that Twinkle has a loving new home!
I do hope to find updates on this one.
Oh sorry no lol I am not Twinkle’s (actually now name Fiver) new mom. His mom is a friend of mine so I get news regularly. Hehe
Well, either way – it was exciting to hear an update on Twinkles – I didn’t know her myself but I have met many a saint who came into rescuea rabbit on death row and I am very grateful for them ![]()
Hi Guys!
I’m his new mommy!! My name’s Rosie, and I’ve been his mama since our LONG drive on 30 Sep.
He’s so wonderful…and oh, so dreamy!!
We took him to the vet about a week ago (?), and they gave him a clean bill of health, and said he was okay to get neutered, so he has an appt for his neutering on the 30th of this month. ![]()
Oh, boy, is he a SNUGGLEBUG!! And he’s such a wonderful addition to our herd…![]()
We just lost a baby recently (she was only eight months old), so we’re going through a rough time right now…but he’s really helping me through the grieving process with all the love he gives me! ![]()
We renamed him Fiver, after the character in Watership Down, and also because of the struggles he’s gone through, only to make it out the other side healthy and happy…as well as the fact that he’s the fifth addition to our herd, and the first boy.
He’s really really special…here are som pictures of him. ![]()
In his carrier on the way home:

All stretched out:

Me snuggling him and reassuring him at the vet’s:

And holding him after they trimmed his nails:

And my favorite picture of all:

Welcome to BB Rosie! Glad to hear that Fiver/Twinkle is doing so well in your home.
Welcome Rosie. (maherwoman) I edited your links so they would show up as pictures. In the future to have your pictures from Photobucket show up you have to use the add reply button. This way it gives you a tool bar to use. In the tool bar is a little icon in the upper left hand section that is a little graphic of mountain and sun. You click on that and it will bring up a little window that has many things for you to fill in. ALL You have to worry about is pasting the URL to the URL window, and then putting in the desired width of no larger than 500. Then you click on Okay.
So exciting!!!! I’m so happy for you both. Fiver is so beautiful. Congratulations to you both!
Cool! I’ve been following this story. So glad he’s alive and well! Hope he’s learnt to trust again. Fantastic news.
