I was petting Lulu and I started hearing these really loud gurgling coming from her. It sounded as load as a humans stomach would when there hungry. It didn’t just happen once it happened for awhile. I am just wondering if it is normal for it to be that loud because I haven’t ever heard that loud before. normally I have to put my ear up to her tummy to hear it at all.

        Thanks,

        Mocha200

Might be a case of gas. Watch her, make sure she poops properly and is eating. A tummy massage may do her good

As I said, could have just been a bit of gas. What veggies did she have recently?

It’s something she ate, and I agree that it’s gas. Make sure she’s peed and pood and it stopped. Try to note what you fed her in the 24 hours before she gurgled. Don’t give her that for a couple of days. Then if you give it again, make a note and listen for gurgles. If it happens, cut that out of her diet. It’s probably something in the broccoli family – the most common gas producer. (broccoli, cauliflower, kale, stuff like that. some bunnies have trouble digesting it.)
If you hear it again, give her a lot of hay and little else until she passes it. If it persists after she uses the litter pan, consider a visit to the vet.

Don’t give her any more kale – that’s probably the culprit. Give her gentle greens like green leaf, or carrot tops with carrots too to be more filling. Hay and pellets alone would be fine, though.

You can tell gas by the gurgling you’ve noticed, by a smell (bunnies pass gas), or by hunching down with grinding teeth if they have more severe gas pains. Massaging can help it pass, as does the hay. It sounds like she’s getting over it, but kale will start it up again.

the day i herd the gurgling i had used up all the kale. I only gave them nice wet romaine lettuce and parsley, i had turnip greens to, but was to afraid to give them some. I don’t have any carrots that have the leafs still on them but they still have the tops on. earlier today I opened the door to my room and when lulu saw me she did 1-3 binkies in a row! I think she is feeling better now.

oh and I gave them a lot of fresh hay to try to get them to eat more.
