I have marveled at other member’s NIC creations. I was hesitant to build anything higher than one shelf up but I wanted something new and interesting for my quartet. They are all young and agile and have no special needs so the jumps are easy for them.

I started with this (above) but added a wooden jumping base later so the jump off from the highest base would be shorter

the jute fabric is tacked down to the wood and the stool is screwed into the plywood wall behind

the woooden stool is painted white with non-toxic milk paint. I don’t think it is a danger to my buns.

the best thing: Deirdra is sharing the thing!

Oh wow, Deirdra seems nice and content staying in the middle lol!

I love how you are always making new creations

When I move, I am thinking of making a cage of nic grids. A nice 2 story.

              Surely not!

I’m really jealous, I so wish I could have a bunny room and build them such a great habitat!

What kind of setup do you have, grumpy?
You can build it maybe in a room that is not all for rabbits. Mine just live by the laundry area in my basement.
I found that the rabbits love long and narrow even just as much as big and wide.

They’ve got a two storey hutch in my kitchen which is a bit small really – but they do get an awful lot of free range time! I’m thinking of doing something else in the future but my husband job’s in doubt; we may end up all in one room at my parents so I don’t think it would be fair to give them a great new space then take it away if we have to move.

I’m storing all these ideas away though

I am amazed at how high they can jump. I used to think one NIC grid high (14″) was a lot to ask but then my rabbits showed me what they are made of and scaled gates as high as 34″. When I come with the pellets or veggies, Deirdra frantically jumps up and off the shelf I made them a thousand times in excitement. Like a bouncy ball.
Grumpy, I love indoor hutches! Will you show yours some time? I’d prefer to have just a small lock-up for mine and much large-area free-range time but it’s not possible in my house. So i try to get creative with their pen.

I will do Petzy – just as soon as I find the SD card that my husband has hidden!
