I have 3 rabbits, a nuetered male (Bandit) and 2 unspayed females (Pepper and Soqui). Banbit is bonded to Pepper. She can be agressive, but he is easygoing and adores her, so they get along fine. My other female is Bandits mother. They usually just ignor each other and I think they could be bonded easily.

My problem is that Soqui and Pepper hate each other. They cannot be near each other without Pepper getting really mad and then Soqui starts acting up too. Soqui is generally shy, so that is out of charecter for her. Is it possible for Soqui and Pepper to learn to get along, or is it pointless to try? I have kept them commpletely seperate for about 2 months to see if that helps to do  a reintroduction. Any other advise to help them like each other?

you’re going to need to get them both spayed before reintroducing them. females are more territorial than males, and it’s especially bad when they are unspayed. that along with the high risk of cancer makes this a necessity. do you have plans to have this done soon?

I am not having them spayed because it costs so much. All the vets in my area want around $180 each. So I shouldn’t try to reintroduce them?

you can certainly try, but the way you describe it, it does not sound like they would be able to bond.

it’s a very good idea healthwise to get them spayed…Perhaps you could look at saving for a while or doing a payment plan with the vet? The incidence of cancer in unspayed females is very high…plus it likely won’t work to bond them without them being spayed first.

I have to agree 100% about the spaying. The % of does that get cancer if not spayed is extremely high (I think it’s somewhere near 90%???)
I adopted a 6 yr old doe, Molly. I took her for a check up 3 days after she moved in. She had uterine cancer, unspayed. I ended up paying $700 + to have her spayed at that time because she had the cancer.
It’s almost a certainty that your rabbits will get cancer if you don’t spay them. I used to think it was some type of conspiracy going on, to have all rabbits spayed so that there is population control. I never believed it was to prevent cancer before it happened to Molly.
                  Now I know.

wow! 700 dollars? when it could have probably cost you a quarter of that for a healthy spay!

lol on the conspiracy thing… if that were the case, folks could just neuter their boys for less, and then there’d still be no pregnancy.

Yes, it was actually more then $700 but I think the only exotic vet here where I live kind of took advantage of being the only one.  That did include

lab analysis and fluids but still, I think I got raked over the coals.

The conspiracy thing, what I actually meant was that I thought people just said that about the cancer to encourage spaying and neutering because

of the amount of rabbits who lose their lives in shelters everyday. That in itself is good enough reason but cancer is an even better one.

I realized the connection with cancer and  non spayed buns  once I started doing research on it after Molly was diagnosed.
