And tbh I’m not totally sure what to say about it. I was super surprised and delighted to see it in my Petsmart  They carry like one bag of one brand of alfalfa hay usually so I don’t even peek in the rabbit aisle usually (inappropriate toys, treats and food-why bother) so I was pumped.

The hay itself is very hard, I’m used to a softer hay. Chuck and Noot definitely aren’t touching it-picked out the marigolds (But not in a rush-they just munched them in time) and Rupert and Kahlua did the same thing and nibbled the hay a bit. Kind of stinks-I was so pumepd because normally they love marigolds-but I guess bagged with the toughter hay-or maybe they just need some time? Anyone else tried it?

So it’s all marigold? I had thought it would be a regular hay with dried marigold through it. Or is that the Botanical hays?

I bought some loose leave calendula tea (basically 100% dried marigolds) to try give the rabbits. They’re not really into it. I can get them to eat some by coating a slice of banana in it. I had read it’s a sort of natural pre-biotic and new it was bunny-safe, so thought it worth a go.

The Kaytee stuff is timothy mixed with marigolds.. I thought about it, i tried the mint variety, but its the same.. all hard bits mostly.

Yeah it was 12$ for like 1/2 a pound or something-it was ridiculous. Yeah it’s marigold + tim but the tim was not great at all.

Would be better if you could just buy dried marigolds/mint and stuff-anyone done that before?

                  K&K,
Could you just plant a flower box of marigolds indoors? (To avoid pesticides outside) Then cut and dry them, so they have a treat every couple of months as you replant.

About every month-month and a half the Petco by me has a hay sale where if you buy the marigold or mint kind ($9.99) you get a bigger bag of timothy for free. That’s what I always do, except I get the mint kind then mix the two together, and it usually lasts me until the next sale. My hay is usually pretty good and smells fresh.

Gotta throw in the new pic of Nix eating out of her BB hay basket

I only know fresh marigolds. My mother grew them to add to salads. They look great and are spicy-delicious. I miss them.

Tried it buns hated it.  Wouldn’t touch it.   The mint one Cotton just picked out the mint stuff.  Ruby ate it.

The hay I got at the new place they seem to like it.  I saw some clover in it yesterday.   Even Cotton is eating it.  And it is green not all dried up like at the other feed store.

That timmy with mint and other stuff won’t buy it again.  I will just feed the buns the herbs.  I need to get to the store and get marigold seeds and perhaps some mint too.  For the buns of course

Yes they will eat the mint when I put it in their bowl  and the dried sage I have as well.  I grew the sage for tea.  Oh and hibiscus  we got hibiscus around here.  I have given them some b4 and they like it.

The hay from this particular manufacturer is getting worse everytime I see it. It’s been more like cardboard than hay for years now. I won’t get it again.
Might make good mulch for a garden.

That hay when I got it was so dried out. It didn’t seem to be very good quality to me, so I won’t buy it again. The marigolds, well, my bun left them lol. She didn’t enjoy that hay. Actually, every time I’ve bought hay from that brand in that type of bag (the long bag) she hasn’t liked it and I didn’t like the quality either. I like the orchard grass that is by kaytee. It’s been good quality every time and my bun has loved it. Some of the kaytee stuff seems okay and sometimes it doesn’t, but this orchard has been her favorite so far.
