Would pineapple as Lolli’s only treat food be good or bad?   Would it cause problems as well?   I’m thinking just maybe one little piece a day.

Pineapple is actually very good for hair balls and for there digestive system to run smoothly! So i would think it would be a very good treat for her.

Pineapple would be okay. As for hairballs, rabbits don’t get hairballs and the best thing to keep a rabbit’s digestive system running smoothly is grass hay.

Why don’t you try a treat without any sugar though. Maybe the Oxbow treats (veggie, barley or timothy) – my rabbits love these.

the timothy treats were a big hit at my house And yes… less sugar would be good for Lolli. She could stand to lose a bit more weight

I meant hair getting stuck in there digestive system. My buns LOVE timothy cubes!

Pineapple is a great treat. As long as it’s just a small amount, I don’t see any problem with feeding it every day.

As for non-sugary treats, one of my rabbits loves oats and barley. Wheat pasta is also a big hit.

I went to Petsmart tonite and got her the Oxbow timothy treats and also the veggie ones. I also got a pack of timothy hay cubes. And at the store I picked up some fresh pre-cut pineapple and her lettuce. The girl eats better than I do! LOL

Well I have one happy girl tonite! She got some pineapple and lettuce. Then I gave her one each of the timothy treat and veggie treat to see if she’d eat them. She did quite a few binkies. Happy happy happy! Of course, I would hope she was all happy since I cleaned up her butt yesterday. lol

I think you should really try to stay away from fruits or any treats with sugar since she has poopy butt. I think it’s in our own head that a treat HAS to be sugary and sweet but really we can make a treat be anything, and you should really try to stick to healthy non sugar treats till you can figure out what is causing her upset tummy. Or if you want to just stick to pineapple only and see how that goes, maybe you can narrow down what is causing it too. What do you normally give as a treat?

I normally give Gerber Graduates mini fruits which are tiny freeze dried fruit. No sugar or preservatives or anything. But the timothy treat and veggie treat are by Oxbow and made for rabbits so hopefully they will be better. She will not get these whenever she wants either. But then, as they aren’t “sugary/sweet”, i doubt she’ll be doing a lot of begging! LOL

She did finally eat the veggie treat, but for a couple of minutes there I was sure she wasn’t. I gave her the timothy treat first. Then the veggie and she sniffed it and actually turned around and gave me her butt. LOL LOL LOL

She got half of 1/4 cup of pellets today and that was it. 2 cups of lettuce – I measured it out. She now has timothy hay cubes and lots of fresh hay in her litterbox. She’s eaten half a hay cube. I’m glad she’s eating the hay cubes and not sitting by her bowl, staring at me cause it’s EMPTY. Whoops – spoke too soon.  She is now sitting by her empty bowl, staring at me.

I snuggled with her tonite and NO POOPY BUTT!!! I’m using the oxbow treats now, so hopefully her digestive system will calm down and we won’t have any more problems.

Do be careful with introducing more than one new thing at a time, as she could have negative reactions to new stuff and you wouldn’t know what caused it.

And so much for 1 treat a day

She must be feeling better cause she’s all happy today, running around and doing binkies. LOL Her butt area looks better too.

She generally doesn’t get poopy butt everyday. Normally, she’d have it every couple of months or so. But her system seems to have been messed up since my surgery. And until this last time, I think it was her cecals. If she continues to have problems I will find a way to take her to the vet though. But I’ve never really changed her diet, so I want to try that first.

Being overweight could be the problem too. Keep her active to help her lose a few pounds.

I’ll try to do that too. Kind of hard though. lol I guess I’ll just annoy her and keep trying to touch her. She always hops off to a safe spot I can’t get her from. LOL When I get some money, I’ll get a clicker and try to clicker train her. She’s smart so she’ll either do it or not. haha
