So Zeus and I are visiting my parents’ house this weekend.  We’ll be there Fri night through Monday afternoon.  It’s about 2 hours away, but an easy drive at least.

Any tips on travelling with my bun?  I want to try and keep things as stress-free as possible for him.  I’m setting him up in the guest bedroom in the basement where it’s the coolest (parents don’t have AC).  I’ll be sleeping in that room so he’s not alone, and hanging out with him plenty.  I’m going to try and keep his feeding and out of cage time schedule as close to normal as possible.  I’m not bringing his cage with, but my parents have an unused dog crate that they’re going to set up for me.  He lives in a dog crate now, so it’ll be very similar to his “home cage”.

Anything else I should be aware of?  Tips?  I just want him to actually enjoy the weekend too, not be stressed by it!

Sounds like you have everything under control. I’ve been taking Otto all over the place since he was a baby, and he can show up to a new place and lay with his feet stretched out behind him within minutes. Hannah is much more nervous, so she was a bit high strung during her first visit to my mother-in-law’s house, but she made it through.

Make sure you also bring hidey places for him. We have a box with holes cut in it that we use just for trips – easy to fold flat and throw in the trunk of the car.

            Great, will do.

Yeah I’m hoping it won’t be a big deal, as when I first got him he flopped out and settled down within the first 15 minutes.  He’s just a very, very laidback bun.  As long as he has a cage to feel safe in, he doesn’t seem to care.

Make sure to bring some of his favorite toys, blankies, stuff like that too, so he still has familiar things

Yeah I’m going to bring as much familiar stuff as possible so he has familiar sights and smells.

When we pack up the buns, they have way more stuff than we do! As long as his stuff takes up the whole trunk, while your stuff is in a duffel bag on the seat, you’ll be fine 😉
