Traumatized bunny

 We rencely had a tragedy when my neighor let the dog in the house without letting me know. We lost one bunny and the other is now severely traumatized over the whole ordeal (while I am still totally pissed about it)

anywho…. I am now tring to get Sugar back to not hating her home. She now hates her cage and was thumping around in it day and night so I put her in the back up cage I have and she is now ok with being in a cage agian. I figure I would slowly reintroduce her to cage as it is the bigger and better one. She also still thumps while running around my daughters room but I figured that will just take time and patients for her to get comfortable running around again. I don’t really want to take take her out of there it will devistate my daughter but she isn’t upset at all if she is in the cage. Any other advice would be much appriciated.

It sounds like what you’re doing is quite fine. So sorry to hear about the loss if your bun.

It is understandable if your rabbit is traumatized. You can’t really force her into anything as things are right now because it might make things worse from her point of view. I don’t see why the thumping wouldn’t pass in given time. Sugar should be just fine – keep doing what you’re doing. That’s what’s best for her!

How awful! So sorry!

I would keep her in her routine as best as you can. Routine makes buns feel more secure. Does she have a safe place that she likes? I would make sure she has one, somewhere she can go where she won’t be bothered if she doesn’t want to be.

How long ago did this happen? And how is your bunny now?

 about 2 weeks ago now… sheis slowiy pulling out of it. She is thumping less but you still can not pick her up expecting not to be bit with a black shirt on. She bit and scratched my daughter yesterday, I told her to go change her shirt and she was fine.

So sorry to hear about your bunny loss, make sure that she has somewhere to hide in her cage as they naturally are prey animals and she is probably concerned that the dog might make a return. Barney (my rescue bunny) thumps at the very slightest noise and movement, and will hop around my room all day doing it so that may be an on-going thing x
