Hi, my rabbit Sawyer is currently 8 months old and for the past month, I’ve been trying to ween him off alfalfa hay with no success. Even when I put in a few strands of the Timothy hay, he eats around it for the alfalfa hay. I have even bought orchard meadow hay thinking he just doesn’t like the alfalfa hay and still no luck. I know he should be transitioning at this age and I should be giving him less alfalfa hay but I don’t want him to starve, any advice?

I would honestly make the hard switch 100%. Rabbits are selective foragers so they will only eat the best bits— as long as there’s enough alfalfa to sustain him, he’ll probably only eat that, as you’ve observed.
