I am unsure whether to make a big deal out of this or not, but within the last 24 hours I’d say he leaves singular poops around various areas of his cage, and when he’s out during his free time I found the odd poop around his exploration spots.  Is he doing this to mark or map out his territory?

I mean he still does all his business in the litter  box so it’s not him forgetting where his litter box is, any insights??

Probably to mark his territory, Monkey does the same

He’s still young and unneutered, right? Typically unfixed buns will mark their territories much more, so it may even stop once he gets snipped.
