Hi! I have a very destructive rabbit who has a very gentle sister. Toys that will last the sister a few weeks will be demolished in 24 hours. They are currently living separately for bonding and I’m switching their toys every day. I bought them a willow ball and the sister didn’t even get a chance to see it, it was diminished to curvy sticks by the next morning. Then, the straw carrot the sister had was torn apart into a very long hay string the morning after. Does anyone have any toy suggestions that might be a bit more difficult to chew apart? Maybe something DIY? Thanks!

The “snak shak” toy is very popular with my gremlins currently. The large one is about $10 and lasts a while, even with very intense chewing. It’s like this very hard rabbit-safe compressed wood. It’s kinda junk-food-ish, but it’s so hard that they aren’t eating a lot of it at once.

The willow bowls from BB also seem to last a good bit of time with mine, as do the seagrass mats. As for DIY, you can make a newspaper mat, or give a phone book (if you can find one), they are great for them to tear apart! Cardboard boxes stuffed with paper are also very popular with mine.

Depending on your area, you also might be able to collect safe twigs and branches for them. Palm fronds and bamboo leaves are fun and safe (as well as the usual apple and willow twigs), as long as the area hasn’t been sprayed with any chemicals.

I buy 3- or 5-pack of rectangular, plain cardboard cat scratchers and my Fable destroys them. They are large, you can cut them into chunks and different shapes/sizes as well!

Dollar tree has cat scratchers (just the cardboard) that last my bunnies a while). I have a destroyer and a laid back bunny as while. Oxbow play garden is also great. Apple sticks are good too.

Phone books make great rabbit toys… if you can actually find one. LOL
