This is my buns current set up. They have plenty of space, but I’m having trouble finding ways to integrate toys and hideouts without the larger bun using them to escape over the side. The escaping isn’t so much an issue as my fear of injuries. I have an evil kenevil bun, that’s about a 36 inch high pen and he will gladly take the leap if he has a box high enough to leap from. The landing pad on the other side is a pretty slippery wood floor.

Hey! Do you ever let them out of that cage? I use straw baskets and straw hats (untreated) and cardboard pieces.

I also use toilet paper rolls stuffed with their favourite hay (orchard), or timothy works great too. I take scissors to the edges of the toilet paper rolls to flare it out a bit. I purchased some plastic tunnels as well that work great for chewing and running through during play time!

Anything “tossable” works wonders for bunnies. Something they can grab onto and toss, like a willow ball.

I do usually let them out daily, individually due to them being skittish. Sometimes they go a few days without being let out due to one of my cats. She is a partially domesticated feral, who is an expert hunter with a taste for bunny unfortunately . The buns pen is cat proof (there is an invisible fence wire in the threshold of the room the pen is in and also around the parameters of the pen itself. All 3 of my cats have a special collar that corresponds with the fence. The room has a door that is supposed to stay closed, but with young children I find it open a lot.. Hence the cat proofing. So I only allow the buns free roam time if said untrustworthy kitty has been caught and penned up temporarily. She is a bit difficult to catch some days. She’s just not willing to come to terms with they are friends not food and I’m not willing to take that risk. So I was just wondering ways to incorporate some play time into the pen. They have lots of room in there and I catch them racing around it.. Just mostly boring room… Thank you for your suggestions.

What about tying things above them? You can find timothy chew toys that sometimes come on a timothy hay string that you can attach to something, I find that works well too, if you could put a 2×4 board or something across the top of their cage?

Anyways good luck! <3 I don't find that my bunnies interact a lot with toys even though they have them haha so don't feel bad

I think what you might need is a triangular cardboard tunnel. They are easy to make from a large piece of cardboard. I use one in Alfreds pen, and it works really well as there is no flat surface for a bun to climb on. I’ll try to post a picture shortly so you can see what I mean.

I agree with Alfred’s minion, a triangular cardboard tunnel or a round fabric cat tunnel would be ideal. They make great play things and are great for hiding and bunny can’t get any support on them for escape.

Where do you get a cardboard tunnel from?
