ok, so now that we are almost done with getting button(and mine!) room finsihed, and buttons will be spending lots of time there… i need some suggestions for toys. i was going to buy soem from the BB store…any that your bunnies particularly love? buttons likes to throw, chew and run around, if that helps. he is a active player. he like to chew wood that is soft…things like peeled willow…and he also seems to like flavored woods. grass toys are good too. what are your favs?

I love the maze haven and the willow items. My fave is the maze haven though because the willow things do make a bit of a mess, but I guess any wooden chewable toy would. I love that the maze haven can be reconfigured and it has lasted a long time with my two buns. Also you don’t have to buy a whole new haven when yours gets a bit destroyed. You can buy replacement panels. Luckily mine don’t chew the roof because you can’t buy a new roof for it.

This isn’t really a toy but I also love the sea grass mats because they provide an edible piece of traction for your bun on slippery flooring.

An inexpensive “toy” you can get for you bun is a quick tube. (I think that is the name) it is like a tube used to shape concrete pillars. I found mine at home depot, and my buns love to run through or sleep in that.

Not sure if the inks on the concrete tube forms are safe. Dustor loves to run through the 8″ diam. seagrass tunnels at equinecaninefeline.com He avoids chewing it even though it’s safe to chew and so I’m sure they’re going to last and last. The wider 12″ willow tunnel at bunnybytes.com he also doesn’t chew much though of course is safe. My bunnies too, would chew their plastic and nylon tunnels so went the way of the trash can. I’m sticking with the long lasting chewables. The chewbular I’ve also heard good things about, not sure how long it lasts though.

The quick tube is made out of cardboard. My bunnies have hardly chewed it because it is heavy duty cardboard.
Normally my buns demolish their boxes, but this has only a few bites on it after about a year and a half of use, so it is worth a try, but if your bun starts eating the ink part then it might not be for you. There is only ink on the outside.

I don’t really know if the ink is safe or not, but as I said, it is not a problem for me because my buns don’t chew the ink part. I wouldn’t worry about it too much unless your bunny starts going on a rampage eating the tube, then you might want to take it away. I don’t think that it will harm your bun if he gives it a little nibble.

This is what it looks like, some tubes have other tubes in them (just so you don’t think the whole thing is one tube)

If you check out the first 2 posts in this forum, there is a post pinned to the top that’s labeled toy suggestions, so there may be more good ideas there, too.
I like to watch and see what my bunny likes to do for fun: digging, jumping, hiding, burrowing, shredding, chewing. This indicates the type of toy that will work best without investing a lot of money in toys that will be ignored. If your bunny is a jumper, platform things like leveled boxes or a maze haven is good. A shredder will like a diggy box full of paper. Burrowing and hiding like the tunnels. Chewers need a bunch of willow sticks and toys – fast! Before they find the chair legs.

I would definitely suggest a maze for him, or if not that, some kind of cool cardboard hideout.

Those quick tubes look fun! One of Pandora’s favorite “toys” is…sunglasses. Weird, but she loves to toss them around. I think it’s because the shape is always changing? Who knows, she is a weird rabbit. She also loves willow, though she will only eat the bark off of them. If Buttons likes to run around and chew, maybe consider making a house or tent out of cardboard boxes. Pandora likes to run through one I set up and also chews on it.
