Any prospective law school students/law school students/lawyers here?

WHEW! all i can say is MY BRAIN IS GOING TO EXPLODE! Studying for the LSAT is so much draining work! I take the test this weekend and I’m so nervous. I go back and forth between feeling ready and thinking I am crazy to think I can do well on this test!!! EEK!

Any body who’s been there have any advice for me? Besides to just calm down! haha

Goodluck! You’ve prepared as much as possible so you can only do the best you can do! You can’t ask any more of yourself than that.  Take some time to settle your nerves if possible.

I had a friend pass it with flying colors the 1st time around and his advice was this: If you have a choice to take the LSAT test either written or on the computer, take it on the computer. The spots fill up fast and it costs more, but in the long run you can accomplish more structured, well thought out answers and avoid writers cramp. Good luck and just keep studying. Let us know how you did!

I will put in my two cents and say, good luck to you! ^_^ My boy has to take the regular SAT/ACT next spring to finish his requirements for college and just getting him to study for a simple high school test practically takes a magician to accomplish. >.<

I agree, a computer format for the test would most likely be the best bet.

I never took the LSAT’s, but I took the GRE in computer form, and it was FAR easier than the hand-taken SAT’s. I know, it’s probably too late at this point, because you signed up for your test in whatever format weeks ago.

Take a deep breath, get some sleep, eat something for breakfast (even if it’s a starbuck’s frappucino and half-a-muffin), and breathe. I’m sure you’ll do fine. And even if you have to take the test again, PLEASE think of this first time as a practice run. I started taking the SAT at 12 years old, and it helped me skip a grade and then make valedictorian and get scholarships. Don’t think of the first-time as your last-shot, because it IS NOT! (I secretly think of bunny-people as more thoughtful and balanced in logic & humanity, so I’m sure you’d be the BEST lawyer out there!)

Happy thoughts to you! Let us know how you do! (Again, not passing is NOT the end-of-the-world, from what I’ve heard!)

I wrote it a few years back when I was considering law school. All I can recommend is practice practice practice. Especially timing yourself. The time restriction is terrible!!

Remember, you can always re-take it, you don’t want to, but you have options. Try to relax. And remember you ARE prepared!

Ohhhh and that tip about -when there is ten minutes left, fill in all the rest of the answers with A (or b or c whatever) and then continue along. Erase and change answers if you finish more questions.

That peice is priceless because when they say pencils down they mean it!

                      Your brain will NOT explode.
However, with all this studying, it is puffing out smoke a bit.

                      It’s making Boston sneeze…

Seriously, advice above is very good. Just study and pet any handy bunnies and kitties. You’re very sharp – you’ll do fine!
(And how about being an animal’s rights advocate?)

                        A little story of encouragement:

A few years after he was out of college and already in the Marine core, my brother decided to go to law school. He was not pre-law in college but being a marine helped with the discipline of studying.
I remember he went through hell studying for the LSAT – and then again in Law school.

Now, he is one of the most successful prosecutors in the Texas US Attorney’s office.
He LOVES it. The LSAT’s and law school were totally worth it!

Stick with it and good luck!

My biggest advice, stay someplace other than your dorm room or whatever the night before… I stayed at a hotel the night before my LSAT. I went to an enjoyable dinner, watched ordered a movie, and went to bed early. Seriously, just try to relax, if you aren’t prepared the night before, you just aren’t going to be prepared.
Get up extra early, have a nice breakfast, get to the exam center no more than 20 minutes early… Trust me on that one. Everyone else that will be there will be nervous, obnoxious #$@!s. You don’t need that dragging you down. Take an Ipod and refuse to talk to anyone for the entire time of the test.

Also, the LSAT is a cake walk compared to the next three years you have ahead you. I wish you good luck, and really try to have the best summer of your life this year, everything is different after you walk through those law school doors. I’ve never been more excited than I am to walk out of these law school doors this May.

Thanks for all the advice guys. I’m actually going to try to get a hotel room for tomorrow night!
I know your not supposed to think that way, but I do have it in the back of my head that I can always take it again!
I’ve wanted to be a lawyer since I was kid–actually I want to be a judge in a family court who decides what will happen to kids who are in abusive family relationships…never even thought of animal advocate…hmm…might have to mark that down…

You could specialize in animal law and lobby the government for stricter laws and punishment for animal cruelty, represent the state when prosecuting animal abusers…

Ok, I’m getting you side tracked. {{ GOOD LUCK }} and get off BB now and go study!! LOL

Well at least you know where you want to go. I’m graduating in May and still I’m not sure about what I want to focus on…. Luckily, its not like you care really study for the LSAT per se. It definately just more of a practice thing. So if you’ve been taking practice tests and working on how you approach the questions (geesh, especially that logic section) you’ll be fine. I took it once and got accepted to multiple schools. You’ll be fine, just have confidence and relax Friday night and be sure to treat yourself Saturday after its over. Its draining…

OH!!! And I almost forgot, most importantly, take a bottled drink and some snacks. It’s a grueling day.
