I can’t believe I am doing this but….
My newest baby must be the most insecure bunny I have ever seen.
I posted a brief “bio” on him elsewhere here. Have had him for two weeks.
He is 14 months old.
Came from the Yuma Humane Society to a Phoenix shelter when he was 8 months old.
I am told when he arrived at the Phoenix shelter he was placed in an over flow area and started to bond with the caretaker. As time passed he was moved in with the other rabbits and then became more withdrawn and less social.
He almost seems to have multiple personalities. I thought he was bonding well with me but then BOOM he acts like I’m the big bad wolf out to eat him!
I have observed that he doesn’t like loud noises or bright lights. Accordingly I muted the kitchen lighting and gave him a radio to listen to (there was one at the shelter) so when I am gone it wouldn’t be like a crypt. Classical music. Very soothing. My birds seem to love it.
When I watch him discreetly, he seems seems very confident and in charge. But when I enter the room he seems very frightened.
I can not remember how long it took my two prior bunnies to bond and socialize with me.
Other than his shy behavior with me, he is a little hellion. He eats and poops and plays just like a bunny should.
Am I expecting too much too soon??
