I rechecked the veggie list and tomatoes aren’t listed.  Are they okay for bunnies to eat?  I gave Quantum a very small “grape” tomato yesterday, thinking that she’d just go, “Meh,” and ignore it, but she nibbled it right down.  Then, of course, I started worrying.    All seems to be well this morning, but………….help?

I gave my bunny some cherry tomatoes because I always feed them to my guinea pigs. He enjoyed them, and it didn’t bother his digestive tract at all. I’m sure they are okay for bunnies, but probably should be fed sparingly.

i *believe* the tomato leaves are toxic.  i would not worry too much about her eating a small one, just watch her for a couple days to make sure everything is okay.

            okay on this site: http://www.adoptarabbit.com/articles/toxic.html#t

it lists tomato leaves and vines as poisonous. i can’t find any mention anywhere of tomatoes themselves.

edited:  here is a thread that has info on the tomato fruit… https://www.binkybunny.com/FORUM/tabid/54/forumid/1/tpage/1/view/topic/postid/66822/Default.aspx#67039

Tomato leaves are toxic – tomatoes are fine – they are high in vitamin C so they are good for them.

Ditto all that-the leaves are also toxic to other animals as well-dogs/cats/ etc so never feed those!

I love cherry tomatoes, so uh…feel free to share!!

Thanks everyone.  You’ve relieved my mind!  We grow tomatoes every year, but I’ve never fed the plants (the greenery, not the fruit) to anything after my friend gave some to her horse (when we were kids) and gave Sheba one heck of a bellyache!

I love tomatoes, too!  Especially the grape and cherry tomatoes–there the only ones I can find in the store that ever taste something like a tomato!

Are they considered more of a treat then?  My parents always have loads of tomatoes.

I would give them as a treat, as they are a fruit
