I’ve collected some empty toilet paper rolls, but they seem to have the remains of some sort of glue on them. Is it still safe to give to the rabbits?

good question!  the tp i buy usually leaves stuck on tissue in 2 strips around the roll where the glue is & i scrape it off with my finger nail.  it leaves a mark on the roll but not a lump of glue & i give it to my buns that way.   i never considered if that was okay or not.  i’ll stay tuned here to see.

Umn….I don’t know for a fact…but my bunnies have probably eaten 100 of those so I’d say it’s pretty safe!! LOL

I believe it is safe, goodness knows my two have munched on their fair share as well. My two actually prefer paper towel rolls and I am assuming that it is “food grade” glue because of the nature of what paper towels and TP are used for.

                    The rabbit ate the rolls?

Ok. Thanks! Just wanted to make sure I wasn’t poisoning my bunny.

You’re welcome! You might want to limit the amount they get, especially if they eat a lot of it. Then they don’t eat the hay that they should be. The same thing goes for phone books, paper bags and cardboard.

if you try filling them with hay they may choose to eat the hay rather than the roll itself – 2 birds with one stone!

Just scrape off as much as you can, and it should be just fine. They have been a popular toy at SaveAbunny, and the bunnies are just fine.
