        Hi all

Just want anyone’s opnion on this…I’ve read that bonded pairs should go together when they go to the vet for the snip…But I’ve also read that you shouldn’t send them together. what do you think?

I’ve read that they should go together as it makes it less stressful and because you don’t want them to "break up" if one comes home smelling different.

I’ve read that they shouldn’t go together because the one getting the spay may blame the other one when they wake up in pain, and this could cause a "break up"

        What are your thoughts/opinions/experiences?

        Thanks!!!

I see no reason at all not to send them together if you can. I don’t think that rabbits can blame each other, blame is a human thing not an animal thing. The sanctuary I volunteer at sends bonded pairs together all the time and they have no problem and it makes sense if you can do it for you and your rabbits.

I personally prefer bonded pairs together for all vet visits, since they provide a support network for each other.
Bonded buns are very attached and I think they do better when their friend is with them. Imagine going in for scary surgery and your best friend isn’t by your side, sounds like another reason to be distressed.

I’ve never heard of bunnies blaming their friend for the pain, that’s a new one to me.

I agree take them together. I also think that sometimes human emotions are impressed upon our furred friends, especially with the "blame." To be honest, I think they would be rather glad to see a famliar face when they open their eyes, especially in a strange place.

Whenever my dog goes to the vet, I take my cat with me too. Same goes for my two buns. It’s just always been a tradition in my house.

Thanks everyone! I would definitely prefer to send them together and the vet I’ve selected said that would be fine and that Kahlua can have her check up the day that Kokanee has her check up and spay! I want to avoid a break up at all costs…and don’t want either to be lonely!

                  Thanks for all the input!
