I’m not sure whether or not to neuter my bunny Oreo. He is a teenage Dutch male bunny and I don’t know what to do. My cuzin says that neutering the bunny will make Oreo lazy and I really don’t want that to happen also I would like to know about how much it would cost to get him neutered so if I decide to do it I can raise up the money.

Definitely neuter him. It will make him less stressed about having the constant need to breed, he’ll likely get more social with you after that happens, as he won’t be in breeding mode. It will also help litter training and territorial issues, if he has any. My boy Moose is a very social bun, he looooves hanging out with my hubby, running around, playing with his toys. And he’s neutered

Cost varies per vet, so you may want to call around to different bunny vest and see what the price range is in your area.

Neutering Dexter did not stop him from doing his laps and binkying all day long Neutering would be the best for him

Definitely neuter! MB gave you some great reasons. Plus, if he’s neutered, you could maybe get him a spayed female friend at some point 🙂 You can’t bond un-fixed bunnies (even if they’re the same sex). Good luck!

For prices, it totally depends where you live. I paid $350 in a very expensive part of the country, but others have paid less than $100. Just make sure the vet is rabbit savvy and has done a lot of neuters before.

There is never a reason NOT to neuter a healthy bunny :0)

I would definitely advise you to neuter him. If you can take him to the vet tomorrow for his eye, you can ask how much it will cost and possibly set up an appointment for it. Your vet might be able to get some preliminary testing out of the way if she needs any done.

Rabbits can become more mellow but I think this is more to do with their age than neutering. They’re pretty active as babies and teens. Neutering can calm them a bit, that is – they may be less destructive or hypo which can be really intense if left intact. They have a high drive to mate and are left frustrated. Neutering can take that “frantic-ness” away. which is a good thing.

Neutering Indy was the best thing I could have done for him. Since then he hasn’t sprayed my bed at all which was a HUGE problem. He is his same loving self, in fact this morning he woke me up grooming my face and was snuggled into my neck/shoulder area! I noticed no change in his behavior. He was VERY frantic about grooming me constantly and it was so bad he had to be locked up at night because he wouldn’t let me sleep. Now he lets me sleep and we have a cuddle session before I wake up but really it has made him so much nicer to have around. I really recommend you do it!
