I don’t know if this is the right topic place for this or not, I think it is but I’ve been wrong before. Anyway I’ve been trying to sit on the floor in front of Thumper and Blossom’s x-pens but I can’t sit with them for long due to the hard lament flooring hurting my back and legs so my question is does anyone have any tips or have suggestions on what I can do to sit longer with them? I should add that I have a narrow space to sit with them and I can’t use blankets since they’d chew on them and we don’t have any spare pillows that I could use. Thanks for reading!

How are you sitting? If the floor is hard, I usually lean against a wall and have my legs out, rather than trying to cross my legs or sit on my knees.

I’ve been sitting with my back against the nightstand (there’s not enough room for me to dit with my back against the wall) and I’ll sit all 3 ways; legs crossed, stretched out and on my knees.

You could try sitting on either a yoga block, a rolled up blanket/towel, or they sell special bolster meant for meditation. Adding something under your bum makes it a lot more comfortable to sit cross legged for longer. If you are sitting right htere with them I think you would be able to prevent chewing?

Those sound great and I’m not confident that I could since I’ve been watching TV while hanging put with them and that can be distracting however they’ve been leaving their fleece blankets alone lately but I just didn’t want to risk it.

I like Dana’s suggestion. And honestly, if they start tugging on something you’re sitting on, you’ll notice.

True, I’ll try it tonight. Thank you both for the help!

The blanket worked out ok, only ok because hay got stuck to it and it was hard to get rid of! 😅 Anyway, another tip question, I’ve been spot cleaning with a broom and dustpan (the vacuum hurts my ears) and I’ve been struggling, more so recently than before. Any tips on spot cleaning?

If you’re needing to get fur off of things when spot cleaning, I like to use those pet hair removers. The ones with the rubber “blade” that you run across the surface and the fur starts accumulating in a big clump.

Yes I discovered the wonders of the rubber broom for carpets and rugs recently and it’s a game changer for hay and hair! There are hand-held ones and full-sized push broom versions.

Thanks again! I’m mostly having trouble with hay and poop but I feel like fur will be an issue soon with molt coming right around the corner (so to speak). What kind of rubber brushes do you use?

Not sure exactly the kind I have, I just searched for “rubber broom” and a lot of options came up. For poops I think a regular hand broom works a bit better, but the rubber broom is great for hay.

Also as an aside, I have a shark vacuum and it’s much quieter and lighter than other vacuums I’ve used! Just something to consider 🙂

Tip: The key is short strokes in one direction. Then you can go over the area again in a different direction. Same does for vacuuming using a shopvac and brush attachment. Short strokes in one direction.
