I’m wondering if it is okay to feed rabbits with timothy hay mix with clover hay? I know clover is high in proteins. If I reduce the vegetables and will that help the rabbit to maintain healthy life?

Oh the way, I’m feeding my rabbit 1/8 cup of pellets. My rabbit was losing weight so I decided to feed my rabbit 1/4 cup a day. I thought clover hay will keep my bunny from losing the weight.

I don’t think you need to reduce the veggies. There probably isn’t a huge amount of clover in the hay anyway. I wouldn’t worry if I were you.

Personally, I’d take your bunny to the vet first (if you haven’t already) to rule out any underlying causes of the weight loss. As for the clover hay, it is very rich so I wouldn’t feed too much of it. Try to stick to the more grassy stuff since your bunny isn’t a breeding animal (or at least I’d hope not).

Rowan — My bunny isn’t that big deal about losing weight. It just he lost estimate 0.15 pounds. Right now, He is back to normal weight.

I would NEVER breed my bunny or future bunnies for meat or fur or whatever.. NO WAY!

I love bunnies no matter what. I am hoping if there is few clover in timothy hay is no big deal for rabbit to eat then I’ll adopt over 15 bunnies because I can afford them soon.

Someone in my area is selling timothy/clover hay bale (60lbs) for only 4 dollars. (that’s very cheap)

                —————————–

What about if there is like over 80% timothy and esimate 20% of clover in one bale. Is that okay to feed my rabbit?

                —————————

I’ll ask my vet soon about this but I want second or third opinions.

I think it is. I’ve bought a hay with clover before and it didn’t have so much clover that I worried. There’s no guarantee anyway your bunny will even like the clover. It’s also great for them to chew on.

Okay, I’ll visit the local farmer so I can check if the hay is good quality

The seller mentioned that his hay is organic. Isn’t that nice? lol

Wow! That’s a killer deal! I would totally go for that! Even if I only fed it in small amounts.

I’m going to buy timothy/clover hay in New York..

I dont know why he was losing weight. I check my bunny’s weight every week and recorded his weight weekly.

so, i bought a grrassy mix of hay, a bale. about 45lbs for 2.50. im assuming a grassy mix would be good for them and wouldnt have to worry too much about them eating a lot?

                              How much has he lost?

If he was obese or overweight and then you have him on a good diet with lots of hay and exercise-I’d call that planned weight loss-is that the situation?

If not-I’d go to the vet ASAP -srsly could be a big deal.
